Has the factory "engineer"still got his head stuck under the dash?
Just to give an update, the dealer arranged for me to try another 510 XF before they started to pull my one apart. That one did not have the vibration I experience with my one. I am on holiday in a few weeks so have arranged for them to have it then and hopefully resolve the problem.
Drove an 18tn Renault with what seems to be the same symptoms you describe with your DAF. I reported it to the TM who basically couldn’t give a stuff.
As someone else has said, fleet operators would probably just live with it then pass the lemon onto some poor O/D who could well be put out of business by the problem…

The XF has now been in the dealers while I was on holiday. Depot manager took it out with a technician and experienced the vibration and in his words ‘could not believe how bad it was’. Stripped down steering column surround and centre of dash and found traces of rubbing on two pieces of column surround. Tested it again while all stripped out and no vibration. Rebuilt dash and steering column surround and road tested again and vibration had gone. However can’t check for my self as fractured my shoulder while on holiday so can’t drive at present!!. Hopefully what they are telling me is correct and will now be a lovely vehicle to drive.

30poulter, hi, re leaking cab roof our Super Space have all had water running down inside of windscreen. It seems not to be leaks, but rather condensation in cold weather. Weve had the DAF fitters climbing over the roofs with seling goo during the winter, to no effect, but now with warmer times the problem has gone. Guess wait for frosts and see if water returns? Having had DAFs for a few years now, and no real problems, I
m really disappointed with their latest offering.
I’m not so sure that its condensation. I have had the same problem with a Range T. Every time it rains it ■■■■■■ down from behind the top lockers. Looking at the other ones we have on fleet at the same age, 15 plate, its the sun visor. We have a couple that don’t leak that don’t have sun visors and mine leaks like a sieve. I spent most of the start of the week running around with a roll of kitchen towel laid out on the dash, the worrying thing was when I got in to the cab one Sunday night and found the rubber mat over the fuse box had flooded.
They’ve off-hired the wagon now, BRS kept putting the repair back until we got miffed off with it.
Worryingly, they have also started adding XF 510s to the fleet. Ill keep my ear to the ground on vibration issues for the OP.
If the vibration is rpm related, it’s probably the engine or clutch.
If it’s speed related is probaly the propshaft, or the tyres.
If the feeling is only in the steeringwheel and not in the dashboard, cabfloor, door handles, there is a possibility that one of the steering components touch something.
Or the powersteering pump is playing up.
They could get a company in will attach a mircophone type of instrument to the engine and when driving in the suspected rpm range, this will show on a monitor if there is any imbalance on the engine.
It’s widely used in the industry and can even tell when a bearing is likely to collapse.
The tools are there, the dealer need to get a bit more pro-active and attack the problem systematicly.
If it causes the centre bearing to collapse and the uj to pack up and loose there lubrication, its a serious issue, which can at some point affect your chassis and cabin.
You would be surprised how much damage vibration does, and can crack chassis beams.

Warm weather here and no water in cab even during and after heavy thunderstorms; so if the problem returns after the frosts and night heater usage it`ll be proof enough I reckon.

Thanks. Bored already and only been home 3 days!!!
Tempted to ask how you injured yourself whilst on hols, as if caused by some sporting activity, this present spell of boredom could cause you further harm!
Careful now!

Was just going into the sea, when a really large wave came in and broke over me, knocking me over and impacted my right shoulder on the sea bed.

Court case there: sue your boss. If he hadn`t given you a holiday you would have been safely at work.

The only boss I have is she who must be obeyed!!!
Ah, maybe time for a diplomatic reply from me then. . . .
