Mmmmmm gogz can please quote the question you seem to have answered .

Well if you drive a truck in mainland Europe you are a euro driver. These days I’d imagine euro work in the eu countries isnt what it was when you had coustoms clearance at the borders.

I did runs to Wales Scotland! Isn’t that Euro work? :stuck_out_tongue:

Blimey this is going to turn in to I’ve got a can of beans in the locker that’s done more miles than you stories.
I don’t get outside the m25 so I won’t get no prizes.

Hahaha its funny to stand back and watch all the chest thumping … “Im a euro driver and im better than…” :unamused:
I take my car on holidays to Germany/France/Holland and sometimes Spain and its sooooooo easy to drive over there. :sunglasses:
I have no interest in driving a wagon over there…I do 4 nights away each week home every weekend and have a good marriage I certainly aint gunna throw that away just because its easier to drive over there!!

However I do enjoy reading the diarys of continental drivers so keep them going fellas  …just dont make out you are better than the rest! :unamused:

Well I agree with you gogz, France is a very easy country to drive in and as I stated its one of the easiest jobs I’ve done, I don’t know why Globby feels that this is the 3 rd thread he has had to comment that he dosent think il be able to cope on European work.

Alex i didnt say you carnt cope with the job… i said you wont stick it… esp when devannys start to weekend you its a little quite these days on euro but when it happens you"ll be sat in the cab flapping esp when it happens a cpl of weeks on the trot, but your a euro driver now so its part of the job… but if it happens and it will you"ll be throwing your teddy out of the pram, Anyway we will see just how long you stick it out… leave it at that for now i guess

Penrith I heard he get the shakes going more than 5 miles past his yard lol

I have done many weeks away, stretching into months, it was my choice and makes me no more of a man than JD. In the past due to queueing on stairs, clearing customs and waiting for agents, the job was very different. Drivers got week-ended in Dover waiting for DCS or DFS, sometimes the load was for the south of England so they opted to stay in Dover and meet up in the Albion.

Myself I used to prefer to load in England on a Friday and ship over, giving me Saturday to reach Macon, Geiselwind or Berlin. We were based around Europe and my stopping places around the ports were Rotterdam, Meer or Zeebrugge but if a tank arrived on a Saturday I would run with it, both for financial and my own reasons. I worked for GBE Transalliance for over 4 years and the only weekend away I had was in Poole by choice. I normally left home on Monday or Tuesday and would be home on Saturday lunchtime. Sometimes I did three trips in the week to France.

It didn’t phase me either way for many years, whether it was 16 weeks away from base or home every other evening. It was while I was at Demeulemeester that my thoughts changed. It became quite a regular occurrence to be week-ended an hour from home unable to leave the truck because you were on call in the factory, or shipping out on a Saturday only to give the trailer to a Belgian driver who would take it to Spain or Italy, leaving me off pay and in Belgium :frowning: I enjoyed my job but I wouldn’t do it purely for love, on the other hand when I worked for VDB. I was week-ended in the yard only once, but that is down to having a good planner…
