Been there, done that. That’s why I gave up the Euro van work. One night on the way to Sweden…I fell asleep whilst driving in Germany. I started dreaming at the time and that was my time over. I would have died if i carried on much longer. Sometimes you have to admit defeat.
Weve all been there got to know your limits and enough enough stop
Even if hour or two no plts are worth killing yourself or others over
That’s it. What ■■■■■■ me off, is the bosses panic to get the gear there and when you arrive it’s totally unexpected.

I’ve lost count of the times, in previous jobs (Hello Sealane ), where I’ve been told “You’ve got to get there, it can’t be late, they are screaming out for it!” etc etc etc by some spotty little 22-y-o University graduate traffic clerk and when I’ve got to my destination the goods-in staff have said “Oh. We won’t be able to tip you very quickly, we weren’t expecting this until next Wednesday”.
All the line stoppers i have ever delivered have never been expected.
I think they’re more concerned with getting the van empty for the next gig.

that was the trouble with euroconexxions toby, i,d start on a sunday midday to hamburg, then up to denmark, then back down into the ruhr valley for backloading to a nice local return to say BRADFORD !!!.I would get a an hour on the boat asleep (yeah right) possibly 2 hours waiting to deliver/collect and i would then get a nights sleep on probably tuesday night after 60 hours awake !!
wednesday afternoon you,d do it all again.
gothenburg (volvo) was a 22 hour trip up
This is why the courier job is mostly owners drivers because of the mental hrs
I sold my van in 2009 so any info maybe nearly 5 years old. I did less than 10 runs for a company in poyle industrial estate just outside Heathrow. Parcels and small pallets, I did the depot near Brussels airport then onto the depot outside Charles de gaulle , wait around then load back to poyle depot. Now I didn’t know all what they did but their own drivers when empty in Paris went to a company house nearby to sleep. The company name I forget but they were at the back of the estate, vans in black mostly lhd with german plates

Your talking about Sovereign Speed, used to do a sunday job from Poyle to Leige airport for them.
I knew someone would put a name to them. The few round trips I did for them all seemed good guys office and drivers . Well ok couple times drivers left after me . M25 passed me which was normal but they made the phone guys look slow
Yes I also did jobs eating in the garage , not all the same but 1 I did many times Essex to Hungary before they joined the eu . So car border mess around 15 minutes then to the factory , coffee from the machine and tip almost 24/7 Saturday and Sunday. Yes was a punch. Don’t think I could do it now

Would that be a bratwurst or a bockwurst?
Bratties are usually grilled or fried although they can be heated by any method you like.
Bockwurst is what we call a Frankfurter, usually heated in a steamer, half a dozen at a time.
Both can come mit brotchen und senf, sometimes mit frites und majo depending on where you are.
mit curry ketchup
currywurst is the best with a little bit of bread on the side
