Wow, driving for LKW ROBERT or AUGUSTIN or ‘just’ H.I.T.?
In the article the Eric Vick truck is seen pulling a CW Vick step frame. Whether this was ‘borrowed’ to do a particular load to the Middle East or if it was on a North Africa run I don’t know. Don’t forget that Eric Vick and CW Vick were separate companies until Eric acquired CW Vicks when the previous owner retired.

Welcome back to the SHED-THREAD!
Yes, I had assumed that the trailer was leased or borrowed too. The original colour picture clearly shows an Iranian-looking Mack in the background, which places the location somewhere on the Middle-East run - Turkey perhaps, or even Germany. Robert:)

I’d not gone away but once in a while work gets in the way. Looking at the back of the trailer there is a fair old hill in the background. Also on the original can you make out what’s written on the front bumper? There also appears to be a new/replacement rad cap flap.

Yes, the filler cap-flap looks like a replacement (as the cab doesn’t look as if it has been re-painted). The badge on the bumper, which looks like a metal one, reads ‘Gloucester England.’ The badge on the radiator reads ‘■■■■■■■ Turbo 6’. Another detail which doesn’t show up on the small black-and-white picture is the wire-mesh stone guards on the headlamps! You’ll have to wait for the book to see the real pic. Robert
Robert1952…do you have an idea on when your book will be on the shelf?
Estimated price and number of pages and pictures?
Question: what offered an ERF-dealer? What was their showroom like? Were
they eager to offer a test-drive? How about incentives? For sure a truck was
sold because of its characteristics, specification, warranty (how many years
or kilometres?) and price…

The short answer is: I don’t know. Last August I was told probably March. Well it’s March now and it isn’t on the published list of forthcoming books for this Spring. Possibly ninety-something pages. Somewhere between 50 and 60 pics, mixture of b&w / colour. It was submitted as a finished product but because of the long interim period, I have continued to add details and occasional images. I’m still waiting for info. so it is too early to say. I’m not going to speculate: I will post information when I have it and if I think its relevant to the thread. Robert
Sounds good Robert…we will remain patient and looking forward to go over your book!
With or without a Shepperd Neame or Bollinger or West-Vleteren.
Norma Sykes caused SABRINA for the ERF KV and TRICIA
(Penrose aka Gina Ward of Heartbeat) won for the ERF NGC!

This spawns a new sociology exam question for CPC candidates at A-level. Can 1950s British seaside postcard humour, as exemplified by the ERF ‘Sabrina’ nomenclature, be transferred retrospectively in the the second decade of the 21st century to an early 1970s ERF? What are we to call the NGC? ■■■■-out? I preferred the ‘Sandbach Scania’ sobriquet, crass as it was! Yours in bewilderment, Aghast of Tunbridge-Wells.
Robert
Postcardhumour? Can you show postcards of the NGC’s? We look at ■■■■ trucks!
Buzzer:
Sorry if this has been posted before, Buzzer
It hasn’t. It’s beautiful. I’d love to drive it. However, it is not an ERF ‘European’ because it has right-hand drive. It is actually an A-series with a 5MW cab and is still on the preservation circuit. Robert
Nice picture Buzzerand I agree with Robert…he would like to drive one.
First time I see the lights in the front-bumper, perhaps semi-European?
Perhaps 3300John may assist…strange (new/replaced) indicators, tow-hook, but again as said,
with visor etc, international truck!

No, there are hundreds of pictures of this wagon on many threads, and there are countless pictures of other RHD 5MWs on TruckNet. It was operated out of Leicestershire and I don’t think it ever left the UK. Someone on the show circuit will put us right. Robert
Ok! Thank you! Perhaps an ex Leicester Heavy Haulage?

Ex John Ward of Oadby, Leicestershire. General haulage and a fair amount of block and slab haulage from what i remember seeing his lorries.
Thank you Collin! Your input is very informative on this thread!
