ERF B Series - Where are you?

Yes…I also visited the Isle of Sheppey yard a few times too. I seem to recall they has mor mercs there than erfs though. We only had a hand full of mercs up at Doncaster…the 1/4 sleeper cabs, but with 2 bunks.

Hi, I was just reminising about my Dad Stuart Taylor, he used to drive out of the Denaby depot in the 70’s, I used to go in the Towmaster wagons with him when I was a little girl wouldn’t be allowed noe though! He also had his own light haulage business called S.Taylor light haulage. Before that he drove wagons with his Dad Taylors Transport. Do any of yu truckers remember him, we lived in Hoyland Common.

Hi,
I am trying to trace the current wherabouts of the below wagon. I have tried REVS, and am waiting a comeback. In the meantime, if there is anyone out there who may have a positive lead that I could chase up, please, please respond.

Thank you.

The DAF in the background is an ex Wilsons Transport of Bradford ,anyone remember them ?

Dont remember the DAF firm…but seem to remember seeing ‘the little girl’ in the cab a time or two.

I know Towmaster’s didnt permit kids at work with their dads as a rule. When the gaffa’s were in, he used to leave me in the car (parked back down the lane in the their car park). He would then go and get his tickets, pick up his wagon, drive round the back to couple up to his trailer, and then drive to where I was waiting. A swift vehicle switch for me, and we were off!

When the gaffa’s werent around…mainly Saturday’s…I was allowed in the yard, and got frustrated whilst sat in the rest room…chomping at the bit to get in the wagon and get going, but dad (along with every other driver in there at the time) seemed more interested in chin wagging and tea supping!

I also rememebr a Scottich chap who was an owner driver and used to sub for them…massive he was!. They called him ‘BLOCKER’ for obvious reasons. He drove a big Blue Scania and often brought the front yard to a stand still with his “parking”…though strangely enough, no one ever bothered to tell him off for this  Dad said that BLOCKER didnt worry to much about regulations, and often drove without a tacho in…he was also regularly seen stumbling about the yard after a hard night on the whisky!
