Employer's and private phones

Personally.
I would give them my number on the understanding it is not to be passed on to others without my consent, and simply use my own phone.
I have loads of call and data spare on my deal and would rather use my own nice-ish phone rather than fart around with carrying two phones and charging them up swopping sims etc.

Some here are moaning about companies not meeting them halfway etc, but won’t walk an inch to help out a company themselves.
“Cutting off my own nose” and going to lots of hassle to prevent what looks to me like a tiny irritation is not for me.

I buy my own nice-ish work clothes, boots, and gloves rather than use any cheapo stuff offered.

(I even buy my own Biro pens without claiming back the money!
But keep that a secret from those who will only accuse me of subsidising the capitalists!)

Pierre, the phone will likely never be used, merely as a prop or show and tell, that i don’t have the technology at hand to download, upload any of their ■■■■■■ so will have to carry on actually speaking to people, rather than be sent company diktats and be contactable. Appreciate the help though :+1:t2:.

Franglais, that cuts both ways, give and take, it’s all take. Depot i work out of, and the company we pull for, I will bend over backwards to help out, it’s the main base that are demanding this, our depot have my number and can if they need, be in touch, what i object to,as said further up is the assumption that it’s acceptable to expect us to use our private property for their benefit.

‘Moaning about companies’ eh?

So if asked to do something unfair, p.taking, or unreasonable…you would comply?
Got to say if that is true I aint surprised tbh.

Only last night I was asked to do something…lets just say unfair and unreasonable, (I aint going anywhere near discussing legalities on here) I flatly refused, so now I am sat waiting (paid) for storm to clear, …granted it was on their instructions tbf.

As I keep saying your approach to the job SHOULD depend entirely on how you are treated.

My last firm I was the model employee and have the references to prove it…not only did I meet them half way, I went well beyond that and went that extra not mile, more 10 miles to help them out.

I aint going to slag my present firm, but let’s just say I only do my job, albeit 100% effort and approach, but no favours.

As for equipment youmention…
, I do not use the soak like a sponge cheap crap ‘‘waterproofs’’ I am supplied, I have a mate on Network Rail, he gets me Gore Tex top notch kit.
We are supplied horrible £15 boots that make fart noises when you walk, I get the ,£15 off them to add to towards some Timberlands or something.

‘A tiny irritation’ and ‘Cutting off your nose’ is your way of looking at it.
I see it as more blindly complying and heading towards the ‘Yes man’ territory.

This is what these firms count on,.as I have already said.
I’m surprised a guy like you who has been in this job as long as, if not longer than me, has gone through life and the job without picking that up tbh…but there ya go eh .

LOL that’s really going to happen

No renumeration equals MUG

The way it works is you go to work, do your work to the best of your ability and get paid for it. In my case why should I line the fat cats and shareholders pockets with their penny pinching pI55 takes?

Good for you, maybe flog company issued kelter on ebay.

I don’t, it’s amazing how many pens you can accumulate from delivery sites, all free and coming out of someone else’s pocket. You can take a man out of Yorkshire but you cannot take Yorkshire out of a man.

I don’t have a smartphone. Never have. So my answer is “I don’t have a smartphone”.

There’s usually an old obsolete paper form somewhere, a bit like when Microlise went down not so long ago. In my opinion, if I did have a smartphone, there is no way I’d download their apps.

When Amazon wanted all of us to upload our driving licences to their servers so we could gain access to their sites, I flatly refused. Yet somehow I still go into their depots on occasion without that upload.

You just have to have a few balls and say no.
