Eddie Stobart horseboxes!

Eddie Stobart , the one who Eddie Stobart Ltd is named after,(Edward and William Stobart,s father) used to have a small tipper business delivering bulk lime, fertilizer etc to farms in his local area. Edward was one of his drivers. When I first came up to ■■■■■■■ in 1968, Edward , at the age of 15 was driving a tipper waggon on site, on the M6 during its construction, delivering tarmac.

Isn’t it the former James Irlam polo team carier?

on the stobby/nobby theme, I saw a Salvo unit pulling a tesco low line trailer not that long ago, a month or so ago…

Salveson/ND handle most if not all of Tesco’s recycling, backloads from stores is normally bales of cardboard/trays etc for washing

Fenland Trucker:
There’s several horse boxes for some stable or something they sponsor.

Oh and Stobbies don’t do abnormal or heavy loads yet - but unfortunately I’m sure someone can prove me wrong… :unamused: :unamused: Their increasing presence on the local 'fridges are starting to be noted by local firms round here - but he hasn’t dared to bring bulkers down round here else his tyres would probably get slashed

yep.

i saw a Volvo unit with the words Bulmer on the side pulling a Eddie stobart trailer trucking along the m11 SB

Technically they’re just part of the Stobart Rail enterprise so not doing general work, just transport within the rail infrastructure

Yeah the artic in question is definitly for transporting the polo team around. I saw it last year at Cirencester polo club. They also have a 26t ridgid as well.

Also they have teamed up with racehorse trainer Jonjo O’Neil and developed a 3.5t, 2 horse box based on the Renault Master, Goes under the name of Stratford Horseboxes.

are they still making them ? I thought they were made at the Boalloy factory which went bust last year?

their website appears broken too !

for reference:
Boalloy Fastruck faces winding-up order

I’m not sure if they’re still making them. I had one on demo 2 years ago and I must say it was rubbish, really tinny and cheaply made (I ended up buying a French built one). The idea was good, 3.5t, able to carry 2 decent sized horses, no “O” licence required but it was just built cutting every corner possible. Unless you really know what you’re looking at you wont realise how weak a horsebox can be untill something goes seriously wrong!

Guy takes a horsebox to Ascot, undue the ramps, 5mins later nothing appears and the steward goes over to see what happening, the driver tells him he has bought the non-runners.

The other day on the M5 I saw a stobart truck pulling a bulk tipper trailer, never seen that before

they always used to run scrap steel or aluminium into wales and load coils back out to carlisle to the can factory i think was opposite safeways at the first carlisle exit?
always had loads of them loading with us when i worked for JR

is south holland, spalding, boston sort of area,if so been going down there for years, before stobarts bought the fridges out, mostly multi-drops

quote
FOWLER WELCH -COOLCHAIN
fowler welch-coolchain has been given the green light to run 10 vehicles and 15 trailers at the tesco site in severn beach ,avonmouth
maybe stobarts are going to do fowler welch work and fowler welch are going to take over all the tesco work

Diane Bern(adette) ■■?

Seen the rigid box at Chelford a few times.

See a stobbie lowloader near to Stoke with forklift on it - guessing it was one of their own being moved internally and I knew that he’s always had lowloader(s) but dunno if he’s going into machinery transport (except from Stobart Rail).

Yeh regually see stobbie tautliner on the A17 and also around Spalding (where I reside usually at the burger van :stuck_out_tongue: ) but never seen any of his bulkers anywhere and don’t wanna see them round here… already had two bulker firms go under recently we dont want any more
