Eating whilst driving

I always eat whilst driving and will continue to do so . The coppers forget one major thing . I can see them before they can see me

Dont do what i did the other night when throwing my apple core out of the passenger window for the birds didnt wind the window far enough down :open_mouth:
I had a bit of cleaning to do at the services :unamused:

Mackem:
Meat pie detectors… I’ll stick to sausage rolls & leave the foil on to avoid the camera.

You dont need to, an easier way is to put up a row of CD’s in the Window

It could give you a nasty experience biting into the Tin Foil with your Tooth Fillings :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

I was on DeRooys & a mate of mine doubled up with an English lad on the Russian run in one of them pigeon coop DAFs & he told me that when he was driving the other lad used to deep fry chips on a gas stove.

My snap has never made break time yet. its the see food diet.

Guilty! Did exactly the same thing myself when I was on for Archbold’s. Leaves a right bloody mess on the window too  .

Technically it is illegal aready.

Driving with out due care and attention.

I thought it was.

I do it all the time. I love noshing Lancashire cheese sandwiches laced with coleslaw or ham with lashings of egg mayonaise. And I would never be without a banana for afters, swilled down with pepsi.

When dining on cruise control, we should always keep an eye out for coppers or VOSA.

I was told many years ago by a senior police officer that eating while driving was against the law - but smoking was not. (A friend of mine had been pulled over for eating an ice cream cone whilst driving - hence the conversation.)
We discussed the fact that smoking was more dangerous than eating but he assured me that although he agreed, smoking was not an offence but eating was. Apparantly if you choke while at the wheel you can/will cause an accident.
(Dont know what you would do if your ā– ā– ā–  fell and your pants caught fire, but that seems to be OK.
Also driving in bare feet is an offence.
The reason for that is if there is an emergency situation you automatically hit the brake hard. That would cause pain to the foot and your brain would automatically pull the foot up and you would hit whast you were trying to avoid. Yes, I know thats nothing to do with eating but just thought I would throw it in for good measure.

Just pulled this off the net for your perusal chaps.
A MATTER OF CONTROL

Drivers can be prosecuted for failing to have proper control of a vehicle if they are caught eating or drinking. If they have a crash while consuming food or drink, they can be charged with careless or dangerous driving

Last year, a removal lorry driver who ate a packet of crisps and steered with his elbows while negotiating a mini-roundabout was fined £250

A nursery nurse was fined £60 last year for holding an apple in her hand while driving around a bend. Police used a video shot from a force aircraft and a video recording from a police car to support their case against her in court

In 2000, an accountant was fined £40 for drinking from a bottle of water at traffic lights and then driving off while still holding the bottle of water in her hand.

  • driving through a puddle causing pedestrians to be splashed;
  • driving a bus in such a way as to scare the passengers.

hahaha i laughed a fair bit reading those 2!!

i try as much as possible not to eat while at the wheel. Regardless of how good a driver anyone is it still demands a degree of concentration (unwrapping, trying not to spill crumbs, even just munching and enjoying the taste!) which is better devoted to the road. Only times i’ll eat at the wheel are if too busy to stop, usually on badly routed multi drops, and i’ll only do it on motorways/duals where the road is generally clear, flowing smoothly and straight. Drinking at the wheel is less dangerous in my opinion and I admit i do that quite often. Just soft drinks though, I’m not quite so sure about pouring and hot drinks!!

Yep, Splashing pedestrians is classed as assault.
If it is considered that it is done deliberately and could have been avoided (which it usually can be) then it is just the same as walking up to a person with a bucket of water and throwing it over them.
For personal reasons I think it is a very nasty thing to do to a person.
It happened to my mother some time ago and the lads who drenched her drove off laughing.
She was 81 at the time and was just leaving the hospital after being told that my father had died. I would have loved to have seen them prosecuted.

I understand that a certain Scottish member from Edinburgh will be able to contribute his thoughts on the above quote here. It’s just a pity that he’s connectionless at the moment but rest assured I shall point this post out to him when he gets back :stuck_out_tongue:     :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :sunglasses: .

My word without my intraveinace Coffee from the trusty and rather battered thermos, i dont know how i’d cope. Do i consume food on the move, thats one of the great things about a Premium, the floor is quite high in the middle, so not to far to stretch, forr your grub box or coffee cup.

Oh, and you have to catch me copper

never eaten whilst on the move, but do enjoy a nice ham shank…

scab-in-a-cab:

the other day I was eating a pasty while going down the M5 and half of it broke off, fell in my lap causing me to spill my can of John Smiths, drop my phone out the window and lose my place in the book I was reading

i almost fell for this one Denis, but I just knew it had to be a joke when I read the last bit, i mean PLEASE, we all KNOW you’re from the South West

ohhh - I can’t read and i can’t write
but that don’t really matter
cos i come from the west countree
and i can drive a tractor

mind you, coming from march you ain’t far behind him i should imagine john

There should be a new offence of driving without due care & digestion !

Guilty of eating and drinking whilst driving - got a nack of pouring coffee whilst driving.

Years ago double manning down the A180 me driving and my mate with the gas stove going on the dash top making a brew at 5am on a dark morning.

Drivers going the other way looking at us in wonder!!!

jeez since i stopped smoking if i couldnt eat whilst driving id go mad :open_mouth:
