Driver assessment and digi cards?

The actual wording of the exemption is:

(g) vehicles used for driving instruction and examination
with a view to obtaining a driving licence or a certificate
of professional competence, provided that they are not
being used for the commercial carriage of goods or
passengers;

A company driver assessment is not driving instruction nor is it a test to obtain a licence.

Article 13 (g) (EC) 561/2006

dangerousdan:
So whats the answer digi in yes or no

You’ve already been given the answer by several people mate, legally you need to use your driver card or a chart if the vehicle is fitted with an analogue tachograph.

When you get to the assessment you could ask the assessor if it’s OK not to use your driver card, but of course if the firm is strict you could lesson your chances of getting the job just by asking the question.

If you got stopped on a driving assessment by vosa what will happen.

They will check the driver and vehicle comply with the laws

so to keep legal
do you or do not insert digi card for a uk driver assessment.

Yes , or you ( that is the person driving the vehicle ) will be breaking the law if the tacho / digi card not in.

So driver assessment is not exempted from eu rules

so if a fire a email off to vosa and see what the response will be.

truckyboy:
A digi card is for a vehicle and driver, so if you are not in a vehicle, you cannot possibly or physically put one into the slot, unless you want to lose it by putting it into an orrifice  so if your in a classroom, the answer is NO…if your in a vehicle over 3.5 ton the answer is YES.

If you are in a classroom say on cpc training then you must make a manual entry on your next tacho card insertion or manually write times on tacho print off and keep for the 28 days.

I leave this one to vosa the judicator’s

So when you report yourself for potentially running bent , what do you think they will do?? Do yourself a favour, put the card in and think of vosa!

If your boss says anything, just tell him you were helping out a mate who was out of hours.

Optidrive assuming that I was to undertake a house move that was out of work time ie not part of my job but I borrowed the firms motor or even hired a 7.5 tonner would I still need to use my digi card after all the job is for no payment or reward also what if I was to take the firms motor to truckfest would I still need to use my tacho again as it wouldn’t be for hire or reward

Thanks

Just wondering that’s all

I would have been quite happy to put my card in but the assessor said not to, what was I supposed to do? Insist on putting my card in? Maybe but I’m not going to tell Vosa about it now, no-one died!

If you are driving a vehicle with a fitted tacho then you must insert the card or disc when driving unless the vehicle or use is tacho exempt

7.5 to move house = private and exempt EU regs
Over 7.5 to do the same = full EU regs

Thanks ROG was just thinking about it that was all

Would I be right I. Assuming then that to for to truckfest you would need tacho regards less of size

Up to 7.5 GVW could be deemed as outside regs providing none of the journey to and from was in any was commercial but as most vehicles there are over 7.5 the point is a bit mute
