no probs i you may see me parked up on occasions down your way, near the dunstable depot i think they usually park near wicks aparently if you walk inder some bridge there is a pub there but i havent stayed down that way yet. i stayed at northampton services that was a dump and real small.
was offered a shunting job today with the said company, not sure about it as we all no shunting dosent pay enough but 4 on 4 off there is room to drive 2 extra days and still have 2 days off. and least it gets away from being casual for every other company
Are we talking about the same Downtons that started in Gloucester - didnt realise that they were such a big concern now

Unfortunatley you wont see me as i only have one set route i have to do at the moment i go from Long Buckby near Crick to Staverton near Trowbridge
Have you ever thought of using Jacks Hill Cafe at Towcester because that pub under the bridge looked a bit rundown last week
Also good luck for the shunting job

Theyve got the pets at home contract at Stoke, so only done agency on that job, good trucks easy enough job, and I know of 1 or 2 drivers been there for 5 years plus, so things must be okI did a shift on there a while back, the guys in the office were really friendly, even when I told them I did,nt have a moffet licence, like they had requested from the agency. They just switched things around and gave me a shift anyway.
Far from it mate, they treat you like monkeys, and its a case if your face dont fit. The regular agency drivers get to choose there runs,
Dont go to the office with your ideas for improvement, they see it as they know best and your just a bum on seat and get paid from the neck down, they will shut you down, arragant and ignorant, there very clicky there. They pushed me to the limit, so I worked to the rule book, but they saw a way out for me, I didnt work there for 12 months so they just sacked me on the spot!!! I asked on what ground? Steve Travis (transport manager) reply was " we dont see eye to eye, so I’m gonna let you go" I looked into it, ACAS said there is nothing I can do as I wasn’t there 12 months, so in affect were all on tempory contracts for upto 12 months cus they can show you the door anytime upto then. the funniest thing is I was signed off work for 2 weeks on the sick, stress related because of the crap, gave the sick note to Steve Travis, but still showed me the door. WOW.
As for the rate of pay you get £10.22 ph and £16ph on sundays, it does sound rather good, but remember you’re driving a hgv class 1 and a moffett, and the office control how many hours you do, They constantly gave me very short sundays like 6 hour runs, to screww my money up, and just to get my hours back on line, cus were on guaranteed hours, so they dont want you working less than you should do they put me on 15 hour shifts on my last working night starting as late as possible to screw your day/days off so it didnt feel like you was getting time off! they knew what they was doing to make it hard for you, many years of self practice and years of experiance, they get through a good amount of drivers there, I must admit it used to be a brilliant job a few years ago, you couldnt get a job in there, but now, they go in and they come out!
Certain drivers there get what they want, whereas the unchosen few got what I call the sweepings, the shift patterns are the weirdest thing you’ve ever seen ie you can work fri, sun, mon, tue, off wed thurs and have saturday off, you can start 4pm on a monday and end up on a fri night starting at 11pm which screws your saturday up, [zb] Jamie Cullerton doesn’t know anything about drivers hours, how to plan runs, but he knows how to stitch you up and make it hard for you, a natural talent in that. He should have stuck to polishing trophies, thats his previous job!
just finnished glos depot stay well clear gone back on agency
money is ok you have to roll in on saturday our do a saturday till afternoon to get over £500 they want you to roll in all the time they all so run you ragged.they pay £8ph £25 meal all £20nightout just dont work out of dunstable they talk to like [zb] you are just a number.
