Good evening all.
My employer is insisting that I download my card EVERY Friday. I though it had to be downloaded at least every 28 days.
Is what he is saying a legal requirement, or is he just being a control freak?
We work on a separate time sheet for wages, which goes to a different department at our main depot / head office.
So, if I refused to accept the weekly download, there would not be a great deal they could do about it??
It’s their O Licence and they are required as a condition of holding that licence to monitor drivers hours and they could insist you download every day if they wish even though it isn’t a legal requirement as far as the downloading and retention of data goes. Maybe they don’t want to wait a few weeks before finding infringements.
At both the companies I worked at who used digital means of recording hours, we were encouraged to download the card or box every time we were in one of the yards, whether that was daily weekly or whatever.
It doesn’t delete any data and any data already downloaded will not be lost
We download every Friday, I have no problem with it.
Speaking to my TM it makes his job easier, less data to analyse in a big lump, he’s just staying on top of the job and I must say he is good at it, we never get asked to do anything he wouldn’t do etc. and he used to be a driver.
