Double manning

On removals it is quite common for the porter to sleep in the back. As above, make sure bed or sofa goes on last!

just before the tea making equipment tho, that should always be the first thing unloaded at the destination,

Sat in valence waiting to be loaded, just shorts and flip flops on, no ones giving me grief about it.

Why would you get any grief about shorts + flip flops?

I bet its a tad on the warm side in Valence today? :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

try just wearing that at a warehouse in the uk. It’s 35 degrees at the moment.

Look for the yellow Formulae one hotel chains all over France, you can book a room 24/7 on the card machine at the front door, the bath rooms clean them selves, automaticly.
Bring your own coffee, the French do not do lattes,if you ask for milk, they will huff and puff at you and roll their eyes,in the way that only the French will do.
Don`t be scared to eat food that does not look nice,it will taste great,in Normandy try the tripe,it is nice,or the pigs trotters.
If stopped by the Douanes or Gendarmes, remain calm and polite, offer to shake the hand, try some French, that will go a long way, shows you not ignorant, open the cab door,as said, most times it is a CMR check, and the tacho of the day before and the day you are stopped.
Most Rouitiers fill up early in the afternoon, may have to park in a Zone Industriale and walk there.

It’s for the tunnel, you park truck on train then wait on platform for bus to take you to the VIP restaurant car, there are 2 buses, make sure you leave by the door you entered the carriage and get on bus waiting.

Not sure if some of the comments are true or are a little tongue in cheek

Yes I have the flip flops and shorts (always wear them at home even in winter) :sunglasses:

Sleeping in the trailer is an option, depends where we park up for the night as it would be Tuesday night and we should of got to our destination by then and possibly started to un load. So who knows what will be their.

As for the pigs trotters, I don’t think so, not my thing.

Have spoken to the Director of the firm and the trailer is now loaded, so its straight from the yard to the ferry with no additional pick ups on route for a Monday night crossing

Happy days :grimacing: :grimacing:

Again thanks guys for the comments.

Well back in Blighty after an interesting week in France. It was hot, ■■■■ hot around 38 degs south of Poitiers on the Tuesday and Wednesday, some what brutal unloading a 45ft trailer of furniture.

I got some driving done both here and in France so that was all that mattered. The toll booths are a tad snug as has been said but I got through them with no scratches on the truck

Back at Ouistreham was a different matter as we seemed to collect a couple of lodgers in the trailer on Thursday night. It was not till after 02.00 on Friday morning that we knew they were as they woke me up, yes I was sleeping in the trailer.

Still all’s well that ends well so they say.
