Double manning a lorry

hey guys and girls, i have a question regarding 2 drivers in the lorry using analogue tacho charts, how does it work when u swap over drivers do u have to change the charts over in the tacho or do u just change the symbols? any help in this matter would be good as i will be doubleing up in a few weeks on a long run. cheers Mosiman007

driver 1 becomes driver 2 and vice versa, therefore, the charts need to be swapped over to reflect this.

the chart in driver 2 position in the tacho head will not record driving, only other work for the time driver 1 is driving

Excellent many thanks. always best to find out the legal way to do these things and avoid the authorities giving me a telling off.

Driver 1 is always the driver, Driver 2 is on POA or Other Work, Vosa accept the first 45 minutes of POA can be counted as Break. Both drivers must be together in the vehicle except for *the 1st hour where one driver can collect a colleague or a load.

Within a 30 hour period following a daily or weekly rest both drivers must have had an unbroken daily rest of 9 hours. This rest can be taken together and the vehicle must be stationery.

If both drivers still have a 10 hour stint available the truck can be driven for 20 hours before taking a rest period.

The second man doesn’t have to be the same man, it can be another driver carried or picked up on route provided the truck has had two drivers available all throughout the shift, (*first hour exemption)
