Just outside Biarritz from Caen = 500 miles. 56 mph easy on a 10hr day. 7.5t Merc.

its actually shorter to go via milan rather that straight through to piacenza weather its quicker would depend on the time of day

Don’t worry about which way you went, nobodys hurt, you got there and the trucks in one piece. That a Success in my book.

Good luck with the next one.

truckers boy, dbi prismo i take it, how are the boys enjoying out there?

I must say I admire people who can remember the road names and towns they went to etc. Off the top of my head I can think of La Francilliene, (I liked the name) the IP5 (because people talked so much rubbish about it) and… No it’s gone! After a while, roads were just roads to me. People never believed me when I couldn’t give them directions after having just been there.

For me each trip became an experience and road numbers weren’t part of that I suppose.

I have to agree with you, if you get in conversation and drop in La Francilienne or the Eifel in conversation, it just sounds more exiting than the East Lancs or the Dukeries

Well i suppose wether we old timers like it or not Sat Navs are here to stay !.I ask myself the Question over and over again would i have wanted a Satnav in the 70s/80s and i keep coming up with the same answere NO !
but would i use them now i sometimes say YES ! maybe because its been a few years now and lets face it our minds are totally diferent now as well as our memory and of course much has changed.I used to know Southern Spain like the back of my hand then, and im talking when the Costa Bravas were still being built with Cranes every 500 yards where ever you went,so yes i would use one now if i ever had to go back out there (which is not poss),but only for that reason. To me the fun in them days were getting lost asking the way and trying to learn the Lingo but to be fair lads we had time out there (unless we were on the Peach run lol) where as now with all Borders open your expected to get there ,get back and the Money ■■? yeah ok enough said about that all i will say is we were the top Earners in this Country and we deserved it when you think the amount of paperwork we had to do and the Agrivation that went with the job,but i never complained it was brilliant to any of you new boys have fun see some sights (trust me we saw them all) eat and drink well enjoy while you can cos ive heard of so many of these small companys that have gone bust or just pulled out, just think that we cant compete with the Chakinskies etc etc they are cutting the rates so badly. Why■■? ask the EU how much all these Easern Countries paid for there Rigs ZILCH !! thats why they can do the jobs so cheaply and with very low wages, just enjoy yourselfs lads it realy was !! a great life out there years ago.

yeah dbi prismo mate how did you guess? bash is getting on canny good in italy now that he has a feeder that works, think there off to kosavo straight from italy as the lads out in kosavo are having big problems with there machine as the gas out there is ne good at all so they need a machine, feeder & a screed truck that all runs on diesel burners.

used to work for prismo before dbi took over ,finished with prismo in 2008 , glamorgan whitelining took over prismo in ammanford in 2011 started back with them steering, sandy and gary who i work with are asking whos out in italy working, do you think the diesel burners will manage ok with kosovan diesel,

Congrats on your first euro trip, Naples is a bit of a gaunt for first trip, and no GPS… to be fair, your better off without, you find your way much better the old way (as you did) i,'ve always said, European is something you either love or hate… its always been in my blood, driven all over Europe and the middle east, but as much as I miss it I prefer to be home (almost every night now)

ahrite while it was ennis, yeah i no about glamorgan taking over prismo (wales), yea the diesel burners should manage or we hope so as weve just sent bash’s machine & feeder straight from italy to kosavo as more work has come up. the gas out there is terrible, realy the only way to get it to work is to by pass the manifold & wack full bottle pressure straight from the tap to get a decient blue flame, basher & blacky were out in italy but blacky’s feeder boilers split while they were out there so i took doddys feeder from durham. the murphys are in kosavo atm aswell as daz barton & doddy, rod & jerry will be on there way out there tomoro (sunday) with the bobcats for scabbling.
