Hello everyone, im new to this forum so I hope I have posted my question in the right part of the forum.
I work for a drainage firm and drive a van that needs a log book as although the van is fitted with a tacho, we are tacho exempt, I do not unblock drains, just produce cctv reports on the condition of drains. This is mainly done on construction sites and road works.
The log book is kept up to date by me, although I believe that I have to go by GB domestic drivers hours, I believe that I cannot be on duty for more than 11hrs a day. Unfortunatley the company disregards this rule (they think its quite funny that we actually complain about the hours) and I am out on the road for up to 14hrs a day. Sometimes the company asks me to work nights ON TOP of my 14hrs already done during the day, the night ■■■■■ normally starts around 1900hrs, and not returning home till 0500hrs, so I could be out of the house for more than 24hrs, without a decent rest period/sleep.
I am looking to quit my job over this, so what I would like to know to know what fines/penalties etc that I could incur, as I would like to present this to the Managing Director of my company. I would also like to point out that all the site managers, and supervisors WILL NOT sign my log book at the end of the week, as they know we do more hours than we are suppose to do, and of course this includes the managing director!!
