Does your truck do 60mph?

scottishcruiser:

Had some new tyres fitted on the drive t other day,has gained 3 km,hurrah, overtakin is much easier, also have gone 1 size up before to get a bit more, bigger rolling diameter, like taking a bigger stride if you like.

You need to watch that youve been re-calibrated if you have bigger tyres on than what your calibration sticker says as this is an old trick to get more speed and VOSA know it and dont take to kindly to it… Another was to go and get the unit calibrated with Nearly BALD tyres then put the new ones back on afterwards.

Aye but that’s not illegal, just common sense.

My truck does 80mph

mine present motor does 89kmh but my old scanny at hargreaves did 100kmh and that wasnt played with use to fly till it saw an hill then it curled up and died.

no it does 54mph all way from liverpool to hull on m62 even downhill with a load it only did 56

I think it’s 85km plus a tolerance of 5km equals 90km not 90 plus a tolerance of 5km equals 95km. Thing is running at 60 would be frustrating as well because you would be waiting for people limited lower than you to overtake most of the time anyway. Seems to be a bit of a gray area to me, mine sits at 90km on the speedo but shows about 53mph on the sat nav. Stobarts were saying recently they set their trucks to 57mph, strange when 90km=56mph?

all of our trucks are old. but on the oldest one, a s reg scania, if you turn the key off then back on it disables the limiter and you can get the speedo of the clock!! the only limit then is the revs of the engine! so the other drivers tell me anyway

Wouldnt "an S reg " be limiter exempt ? 1978 motor :open_mouth: - well . . . you said youre trucks are old !!
Used to do the key trick on an MAN years ago but the ebs light always came on .

I think it was round about “E” plate when the limiters came in. cos I had E513 with a limiter and my mate had a E as well and no limiter. I used to curse the git daily…

We have a System called "Fleetboard,or so
You get 100 Points and it counts down when you rep too high,Speed too fast,Break too hard, and when you used to many Points you are liabel for a training session, and,…
 we don’t know yet what then.Anywhy,it affects your wages if you use too many Points :exclamation: ,so we are unlikely faster than 50mph

I’m allways getting passed heading north on m6/m74 by scots registered trucks as much as the Irish

mine does 90kph on the cruise control but only 88kph on limiter but i still get passed by our other motors showing 88kph but ive been told depends on taco cailbration and the wear on the tyres if tyres low when caibrated then you put new tyres on you will go faster the taco shows

I was sitting on the tail of so Stobbys the other week, I was doing 60, was getting no nearer to overtaking the Scania …got bored in the end
