If the surname is in a form of adjective, yes. So if your surname is Polski (Polish), your wife will be Polska. If it’s Kowalski, your surname will be Kowalska.

Names which are gramatically names, stay the same in both forms, so if you are Kowal (Smithg), your wife also will be Kowal nowadays. But in the past, she would be Kowalowa (which stands for wife of Mr Kowal) and your daughter would be Kowalówna (which stays for daughter of Mr Kowal).

In Czech republic they still use female endings everywhere, even to foreign names, so if you pick the Czech paper, you will have Ms McDonaldova, Ms Tatcherova, Ms Merkelova etc

i always gave my lorries a name , but i’m afraid it wouldn’t get past the auto censor .

the truck does not have a name although its definatly female, but we do have a plastic tinkerbell that i found in italy in the gutter. and whenever i pass the village i hold her out of the window in the palm of my hand and ask if she wants to go home. up to now she has been happy to stay with me.
