Does newer mean better?

I noticed that too, and the truck never had any sidelights

AAAAaawwwwwww, how sweet.

I drove a 143 500 Streamliner for 6 months or so.
It was in white, with red lettering (with shadowing) and was the Hi-Line cab.
I had been looking through the shed, in the yard, and found a pair of the large internal cab boxes, I asked permission and fitted one in place of the standard shallow tray (between the seats).
I thought it was a very nice wagon to work and live in. My wife came with me for a week, once. She thought it was pretty comfortable too.
If I was offered one today, I’d have to think about it. In its day, it was the leader of the field. How would it stand, In comparison to a modern wagon?

There’s a school of thought that the 450 was in fact a better motor.
The argument being-
The 500 was the first one fitted with an ECU.
The 450 has a mechanical injector pump, so it’s easier to ‘open her up a bit’.

I also drove a 124 420 for a couple of years.
The cab was ok, but no better than that.
Storage was poor, to say the least, the main top bunk (over the screen) was wide but a very thin mattress and no headroom.
It was uncomfortable for me to drive for a full shift. There was nowhere to put my left foot which was comfortable for me. I’m 6’0", which is a fairly average height.

Still cant beat an Actros thou

I absolutely hate the Actros  any model, any year, IMO the driving position is the worst of any truck, the seat had only one adjustment, the steering whel is to low, and even with the seats pushed as far back as it will go the pedals still seem under my thigh muscles  (i’m only 5,11’).

Got to agree with you there at 6’6" I felt the seat could go back another 2 or 3 " its a very cramped driving position but the rest of the truck is great and an excellent bunk just a bit short !!!.

6" average height, ur avin a laugh arnt ya, im well below at only 5"5!!!

:open_mouth:   :open_mouth:   :open_mouth:

don’t fancy trying to get under the front of that mp3 when it’s on the hard shoulder with it’s hazards on. :open_mouth:
my f10 is a great old truck…but my current favourite is an xf105 but they all seem to be auto…i drove an early series 2 fh12 460 this week and i’d like one of those as a wrecker.
