I presume Paul Duncan was not always a lorry driver or that he was very careful with his expences
Very much so, a few tolls worth there

iāll stick with my 91 jag, all the older stuff is gone now but i still cant bring myself to buy a modern car.
they all look the same, theres no character to them.
Itās a completely pointless petition as it will never happen. Youāre all worrying over owt.
Better to worry and jump in quick rather than see the government take out our way of life.
as a committee member of the NASC
www.rodandcustom.co.uk
we have had this running battle for a few years now as if the ruling came in our whole sposrt and way of life would grind to a halt.
The government bang on about re-cycling and that is exactly whast we are doing by keeping these wonderful vehicles on the road, either as bog standard, concorse, customised or rodded.
My 1960 Dodge Phoenix would have to come off the road.

No doubt someone will inform us of other categories.
Isnāt an electric milk float also RFL exempt

Tractors and Quad bikes (Ag use) are exempt as well

IIRC, a farm tractor used to have to pay for an RFL, and also IIRC, the taxation class was called āagric machine.ā
Iām going back to the very early '70s though, so my memory might not be accurate
These are 2 Classics Iāve recently owned (both gone now). Doesnāt have to be old to be a āClassicā. Both 5.7 V8s
I rebuilt this on a galvanised chassis 3 years ago
Then did a part ex last October for this one
Will have a V8 put in shortly
I just swapped a V8 discovery that was a little rotten for thisā¦
A 109 landrover 2.25 diesal with fairy overdrive and freewheel hubs. And isnt rottenā¦
Definately signing that one Lucyā¦would mean I would have to get rid of my 11 year old Audi and I would not be a happy bunny.
Iām also a lover of the old Classic American 50ās/60ās cars and if I ever won the lottery I would be on the lookout for an early 60ās Ford Mustang and maybe a nice Studebaker !!!
Would be so sad to think we would not be able to see any of the classics on our roads anymore. <a%20href=āPhoto Storageā>
<a%20href=āPhoto Storageā>
Thatāll mean my 22 year old VW Polo will have to go
They do a similar thing in Japan. Its to keep the Car Industry going hidden in the shroud of āEnvironment,Green,Emissions,CO2ā blah blah blah
Some smart arsed politician has obviously decided to try and implement it over here.as if they havent got more pressing issues to deal with
Its alright for the rich eh
I like seeing them on the roads, and enjoy going to the vintage car and truck shows in summer.
For me itās moot.Iāve always used what could be termed classic cars for continental road trips finally up to the 40 year old 6.0 litre 5 speed manual XJ12 specifically built for that purpose.
If they intend to ban the strangled, standard 5.3, 3 speed slushbox, heap it started out as they certainly wonāt like Weber ITB fed open exhausts 6.0 5 speed manual beast it ended up as.
Even if I could get the parts for it or afford the 2 Euros per litre, at 15 mpg or less, fuel costs over a 2,500 trip.Or not get it confiscated by the law in the impossible new speed regime.
Unfortunately Lancpudn is probably eventually going to win this argument.
One way or another that lovely old Jaguar is going to end its days prematurely at a meeting with a gas axe and the crusher and metal recycling furnace.
As for old Land Rovers Iāll always remember the old 2.6 6 cylinder ones we made into fire engines that I started my fire truck driving career on and the non synchro 1st and 2nd of the series 2 that started my liking for non synchro boxes.
This control freak agenda wonāt stop here and Iām glad Iām 65 not 25 but would prefer to be over 75.
Someone on another forum asked a question about classic cars the other day, What happens to them after the old generation die off? Will the younger generation take the mantle & be as interested in them?.
Go to any classic car show & the majority of classic car owners are of the older generation.
Even owning your own car these days is dying out, I read the other day that 93% of new VW, Mercedes, BMW & Audi cars are leased. The new cars of today you canāt work on them with spanners, theyāre all software based.
