Please tell me that after already being a lorry driver you are really contemplating joining the ■■■■■ drivers that are taxi drivers. [zb] that atleast in a lorry you can get your own back on the idiots.
I don’t think we can call all taxi drivers this. Its just a idea that has crossed my mind
dont blame you our local taxi driver a friend does 4 full days then fri sat sun morning he takes home 300 with car radio and insurance taken out ive thought about it for years

Why not do both? Do some taxi driving on weeks off to top wage up. I’d be quite happy to set myself up with a nice estate car and do some airport runs.
I did 8 years of doing both, 6 months on taxis and 6 months trucks, was very profitable and will be going back to that work pattern in the near future.

hi folks its been i think at least 18 months since last on here, and to answer this ,you have to think:
home every night with /without wife
take a break when you want,
choose your own start/finish time :ie self-employed
cash in hand 95% of time, also tips on jobs.
own car is better than sharing/company car is just that, used by everyone.
having done the job,and still are today, i would not go back on the trucks, love the shows:ie ice road etc
wages are better on the taxis,if you can get over the 11 to 12 hour day/ 6 days some times 7 a wk
no regs at the moment, just use common sense.
we (new forest) have a good rate, most jobs done on meter, airports fixed at below meter rate.
as for earnings 900 to 1200 a wk turnover is easly done, less circuit rental, fuel, servicing, set up costs all tax deductable.
hgv went back in feb, didnt bother to renew it,so will be a cabby till the day driving becomes a pain.
p.s it helps to drive sat night depending on where you are.
try it,most councils give you a 1 yr licence to start see how you cope with it,then on renewal you get a three year one.
YOUR CALL
mate am in liverpool and i drive a taxi, granted its the biggest private hire firm in the country but i work roughly 38 hours a week, maybe more if i know its going to be a busy weekend, ie grand national weekend, xmas, new year. but i can earn between 300 to 700 a week if i worked 7 days i could do a 1200 easy, and that is after deductions for fuel, insurance and settle. BUT to do that i have to work evening/nights, so hardly see my family, but saying that if your doing nights out all week you wouldnt either. you can work days but not as much work about with most ppl being in work so that just leaves pensioners and they dont tip.
best thing to do is look at your local firms and talk to the drivers try find out if they get work in all areas of the town or city your in (high volumes of work) coz that will mean more customers and less dead miles. you dont wanna have to drive back to the same area after every job thats just eating away you diesel and profit.
and private hire drivers dont have to wear seatbelts when we have a fare but do have to if we dont.
oh yeah you need to be easy going, youll meet some really nice ppl but you will also meet some absolute ■■■■■■■ ■■■■■■■■■ and hey if someones sick in your car its a extra payday, i find thats the best way to look at it!
Well I started work at 10 pm last night and am currently broken down with the tail lift so not looking like it will be fixed till 07.30 then still got 3 drops and a 1hr 30 main drive to depot . …so looking like a 11am midday finish … Taxis are starting to look good

Haha unlucky mate, each to their own if you want to give it a try go ahead. I’d much prefer the class 1 though some comments here and there it doesn’t sound like any more money tbh… Yes if you put the hours in but that’s the same with any job if you’re working for a good company, the guy who said 300 take home after deductions is ■■■■■ I can double that on class 1 for 5 week day shifts, and I only passed in January ffs! And I can spend nights and weekends with partner or friends.
Also taxi drivers put up with some amount of ■■■■, a guy I know got robbed by 3 ■■■■■■ after picking them up from the town n didn’t know he was dropping them off at a site until it was to late.
You might get the odd ■■■■■■■ or 3 way from drunk stinkers though
PS why is the other word for traveller edited out wtf? Lol
