Digi tachos, Manual entries?

I’ve been working for greggs this week, loading wagons, driving them around 500yds then unloading them (internal not using Tacho card),
In the afternoon some runs are to another depot, about 5 miles away,( all different wagons) when using the digi tacho card, it asks for manual entries,( yes/no.)
Should I be making manual entries? if so, what manual entries?

john

You must account for all work - so the answer is yes, you do need to make a manual entry of both “other work” and “breaks” as appropriate. These are circumstances where many drivers will choose to not bother but the correct way is as I’ve stated. Please don’t fall into the sloppy ways of others.

All the best, Pete

I agree that you should be doing manual entries, the work in the mornings driving around the depot loading/unloading should be entered as other work, so if you work from say 08:00 to 12:00 driving round the depot loading and unloading vehicles that should be recorded manually as other work, if you then have a break of 30 minutes that’s exactly what should be recorded manually (12:00 to 12:30 break).

Remember that when you go onto public roads any part of that journey that’s not on public roads is also counted a driving, it’s only when no part of the journey is on public roads that you should record it as other work.

When you go out in the afternoons driving different vehicles to different depots the time that the card is out of a tachograph whilst changing vehicles should be recorded manually, this will usually be either break or other work.

If you use both digital tachographs and analogue tachographs on public roads in the same day you will have to decide where to do the manual entries, for instance if you change vehicles and both vehicles have analogue tachographs then obviously the time the chart is out of a tachograph will be entered manually on the chart, if you change from an analogue tachograph to a digital tachograph you can please yourself whether you put the manual entry for the time between vehicles on the chart or the digital tachograph.

I hope I haven’t made this sound more complicated than it really is
