I always thought that it was a bit of an Urban Myth that putting a cap-full of brake fluid into a tank of diesel stopped it waxing?
I got told by a Finn its what He used & from then on in I did it.
I’m a Finn but I have never heard about that. Was it brake fluid as used in hydraulic brakes or alcohol used in pneumatic brakes? A cap full wouldn’t help anyway, needs much more.
I use sometimes 2-stroke oil for lubricity. For cleaning the fuel system biodiesel is probably the best. Don’t use Lucas, it’s the worst crap on the market, kills your injectors and pump very early.

A gallon of engine oil does the same trick, you get lubrication and the higher burn temperature removes carbon deposits from the squirters

Yes but I think 2-stroke oil was made to be burned so leaves less residuals. Don’t know about removing deposits from the tips, I think ultrasonic cleaning or changing new ones is the only way to clean them. Biodiesel cleans tanks and fuelpipes, it’s a very good solvent, better keep new filters in truck when filling with biodiesel.
I suggest we all have a whip-round and buy Dave a set of new injectors and a fuel filter for his birthday.

■■■■■■■ used to have a system that would take some of the used oil from the sump and put it into the fuel tanks to be burned, a seperate reservoir was used to replenish the oil level, it got outlawed when the EPA emission regs came out. I’m not so sure it would be a good idea nowadays, all the soot and crap in the oil from EGR/DPF and all that other nonsense would probably clog a high pressure common rail system over time
I’ve got a gallon of used Chevron Delo to throw in the whip Mr ■■■■
