Diary of a new job

I bet you looked to the sky when you saw fleet number 6004! Still seems to be going alright for you so far.

Have i missed something on this post, 6004? whats that all about?

Right underneath one of yours mate

If you get fleet number 6004 it’s riddled with dangerous defects that they refuse to fix.Never plan anything for a Saturday.
If your planner is Seb watch out he’s an alcoholic and cannot plan for [zb].
Expect to run your hours to the limit every day including doing 6x15’s a week.
You won’t be tipping in France as you’re not allowed too.
All I can say is good luck you really are going to need it

Oh, yeah, cheers Brian, i missed that.
Is it a 105 Super Space or a CF you’ve got Vodka?
And are there any diary’s or photos ?
It took me a week to get used to a left ■■■■■■, and 2 weeks to be comfortable with it and not give it a 2nd thought, so you should be sorted with it by now mate.

Morning all.
End of week 2 and alls going well so far.
Yep getting the hang of the left drive handing thing now! Starting to get comfortable with it and its becoming sort of natural, in fact when I parked it up yesterday morning and jumped in my car to go home I clipped the bloody kerb in it!!! The worst thing was jumping in the passenger side of the otherhalfs car to go to Tesco and ■■■■■■■■ myself cos I thought she was driving half way over the centre line…
Had a nasty blindside reverse this week at St Ives Logistics Redditch but got help from another Brit driver then returned the favour as he had a blindsider too.
What I have found is a bit of discrimination against foreign/lefthand drive trucks from uk drivers with regards to the flashing in when overtaking!! Its one thing I never did, I don’t care what country your from we’re all doing the same job!

Thats all for now the bacon sarnies getting cold.

Ads.

Yep and me don’t matter where they are from i’ll always flash em in.

Good to hear that things are going well for you at TSA…

I have to say I drive Lhd and I have noticed this also iv had a couple of instances of unprovoked abuse from other uk trucks which I thought was funny.
Although I’m guilty as charged because I very rarely flash e bloc in unless I’m really in a good mood

When I left Cranleigh Freight in 2001 I went to work for Uncle Norbert out of St Malo in france in a French registered left ■■■■■■, I have to say I was shocked at the amount of abuse I got on the UK motorway network from UK drivers, it was amusing when quite a few times I got the abuse I wound the window down and asked in my best sussex accent ‘whats your problem c#?#’ to be met with a huge backdown and sorry thought you was French…!!

A question from an ex ‘leftie’ man, how many times have you gone to the wrong side & opened the door to find the steering wheel missing?? (I bet you have  ) :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

Ross.

I actually did this twice last week, driving a rhd, went to the ‘drivers side’ to get in,

Ross.

What to do is to put a pair of work gloves beside your passenger seat.
When you do this just pick up the gloves, put them on and recheck your back doors are shut and locked properly (or some other “check” that could want gloves)

That might work sometimes, but not when I once showed ‘numptyness’ beyond the call of duty and backed onto a bay @ Henry Bath’s in Kirkby to load, I walked round the back & opened the doors then walked to the front & jumped into the passenger side!! I was half way up before I realised but couldn’t decide what would be the least embarrasing way to ‘back out’ of the situation my stupidity had got me into. I shut the door & pretended to change my boots before climbing across into the driving seat & reversed onto the bay, checking left & right to see if anyone was giving me that ‘knowing look’!!!

Ah, you’re right.
That much numpyness can’t be covered up quite so easily

Recently parted company with my rhd car that I bought out from the UK.

4 months in and I still have problems deciding which side to get in on my new lhd motor

Just done the same thing Inselaffe, now my wife keeps going for the drivers side instead of the passenger side.

Now that’s proper scary stuff!!! Do the actually let women drive where you live?? :smiling_imp:

Ross. :unamused:

so was the truck riddled with dangerous defects?

euromat:
so was the truck riddled with dangerous defects?

Probably a choice from the following
Cig lighter not working
Air con in-op
Dash bulbs wont dim
Cant get archers on the wireless
Bunk squeaks…

You missed out ;
Air suspension failure
Mid Lift Axle not lifting
Pulling dangerously to right when braking
Overheating
Oh and dodgy 5th wheel connection in the jaws

Not sure about the Archers because I’m not an old ■■■■ that listens to that crap
