The firm were very active in the fuel protests a few years back, they always had a motor in the demonstrations around parliament and I seem to remember reading in MT or CM some stuff from the man himself, my impression was that he was trying to do things the right way and had the good of the whole industry in his mind when he joined the protests, a shame that he’s closed the doors, but at least he did it in the right way.

The reason they dont apply is cause they get everything paid for if they stay out of work, so its partly the foreign workers coming over, taking jobs and sending money back that added to the money problems in this country but it is majorly down to the lazy majority of brits. Although british companies are more likely to sub out to british companies any work they cant cover whereas the foreign companies are more likely to sub out to foreign companies.

The only part I got wrong, was it was the night shift where nobody from the local unemployed responded, sorry about that, the rest is true, I`m afraid.

Maybe no-one applied for the job because there is NO new 24hr tesco in Aberdeen, the only 24 hr Tesco has been open now for round about 10 years.
edit Unless you count the express shops which would only require a small amount of staff to run.

Nothing funny about it! Tossco went abroad to recruit en masse. Why would they do that? Cheap labour, don’t you get that you trumpet? I’ve got nothing to hide (strange remark?) unless you think I’m connected to this in some way? I’m not. I have however had first hand experience of Tossco’s approach to business and it’s not good.

Did Tesco advertise these jobs in Aberdeen? If so, I find it hard to believe that not one single person applied. When Cadbury’s advertised for waiting staff at their new Bluewater cocoa shop, 2000 people applied, of which over a third were university graduates.
If they had no luck advertising in Aberdeen- which I doubt- then would it not have been better to have then tried advertising in Inverness, Dundee, Edinburgh etc before turning to Slovakia?
