Has anyone experienced a reader go duff or their card stops working? If I error not, that if either stops working mid-shift,we cannot continue to drive. But,if it is the card that becomes defective,it will take a week to receive a new card.

Once DVLA are told about faulty lost card , you can drive doing printouts for x amount of days

Ah right,thanks
If your card is the problem: Notify DVLA asap, 0300 790 6109 — Monday–Friday (8.00 am–7.00 pm)
It MUST be done within seven days maximum. You can drive for 15 days, making printouts at beginning and end of shift, keep them for 28 days preferably in a works diary in date order. DVLA are required to get your new card to you within those 15 days, but that’s not usually a problem.
If it is the tachograph that is defective: Make sure you add the “defective tacho” problem on your defect sheet, the company need to get this fixed ASAP, (again, MUST be done within seven days)
Yes…
I had one eject as I was driving, scared the beejesus outa me, I wondered wtf was going on, tried re-inserting and it wouldn’t, had to do an entry on tacho paper, phoned dvla and they sent one out asap!!
