hiya,
Nothing to do with Foden’s but a company that ran them namely F F Robinson of Teesside I used to pass their yard when working for Riding’s many moons ago and my question is what was the little “antique” lorry always parked outside ■■. it was always clean and polished , but was it a runner or just a showpiece ■■.
thanks harry long retired.

Hiya Vic, if its the one I’m thinking of I believe it was a Ford model T, I have a picture of it somewhere, I’ll see if I can find it scan it and put it on the old North East thread. Regards, Mizzo.

Cheers,i hope you have had agood time over the xmas weekend, Vic.

Re, The Redland/LaFarge 8wheeler; I drove a 6w 4340 with Cat engine on an S plate. The Jake brake made a great sound when set to max and fully loaded going down Cotswolds hills…made some tourists frown, some laughed their arses off (probably American ones used to 'em)
Someone mentioned hardly using the clutch; I could do that with some of our 4000s…some drivers complained about it, I reckon they were jealous 'cos many couldn’t use the constant mesh anyway :grimacing:

Dad thought the world of his B reg with twin splitter. I get irate when drivers at work call our 12 speed Fodens “twin splitters”; They’re not they’re just range change with a splitter on top…thet don’t change themselves when moving!
Why was the twin split discontinued?

I was always told that it was due to excessive noise Nathan, didn’t meet EU guidelines.

Pete.
