Just wondering if anyone has any pictures of a 2004 Foden alpha with the reg YA04 WXG, Last time i knew it was on bulk tippers with J.W.Maeer on the doors. I know it got sold off from them as they sold up as they lost all their drivers, (Crap firm, Crap pay so to speak)
Limey:
curnock:
would that be mr foden ?.i bet he’s spinnin in his grave.Yep, that’s Edwin himself, curnock.
Here’s his eldest son William, who remained Governing Director until his death in 1964 aged 96
And to complete the big three here’s the youngest son and a great British Transport man himself, Edwin Richard Foden.
This is a shot of my Great Grandad,Thomas, and his son my Great Uncle John with one of the fleet of Foden steamers they ran, this one was named Dorothy after one of his daughters my great aunt Dora,as I knew her.Aparently they would travel by train from the North east to collect the new ones from Sandbach, paying Fodens “cash on the nail” on collection, then drive home across the Pennines!!! No Bankers Drafts or Trade Plate wallahs in those days then!! Bewick.
heres some from my local area…

Just looking through this thread saddens the heart, like many on here i was born at the end of WW2 and remember feeling proud of our motor industry even as a kid and still cant believe that in less than my life time i have seen it come and then go prehaps it should not be RIP foden and the rest but RIP to the pratts that caused this over the last three decades. We are all aware of the way the British motor industry rose to the challenge of WW2 can anyone see it happening if god forbid we are in the same situation again as time passes by i am increasingly of the opinion that our industry is closing on Poland to be top dog for producing matchsticks. Anyway enough of my mumbles this is a great thread dedicated to a British Icon so heres a oldie a Bill Brian photo of showman Tom Normans Foden DG, the fairground where many ended up and have been the source of many preserved Fodens we see at the rallys
Heres the foden my dad currently drives
