Went in to work at 14.30 today. told I was not needed when I arrived even though I will get 8 hours Sunday pay 
finished Friday at midnight meaning 38.5 hours break. can I count this weekend as 45+ hours break? All I did was take a leisurely drive to Crick and back

Well if you never actually started work then you don’t need to count it as such and your weekly rest will be over 45 hours unless you started another job before 21:00 today, which presumably you didn’t.
To be honest even if you booked on before being told that you wasn’t needed apart from the company you work for who’s to know and what harm is done, personally unless the company have something to say about it I’d book the weekly rest as over 45 hours but it’s up-to you what you do

That’s what I intend to do. Being agency I want to work all week and have next Saturday off as it is the week after that I want long break.
If your agency I’d count it as part of a weekly rest. I’d still count it as a rest even if I had been in a few hours and hadn’t been assigned a truck. Who’s to know?
