If any of you blue and white persons might like to join our reunion bash that your eminant fat (now not so fat) controller is promising to attend you are all very welcome
Hi Ian, as you are probably aware i will be in attendance but as for the rest of the lads, well i reckon they,ve either had
their pc,s confiscated or are unable to use them anymore.
I,ll contact a few of the old boys , maybe they,ll be allowed out on a day release from their institutions.
Hi all; During my research for my Astran book, I spoke to John Cooper who was a subbie for them in the early 1970’s. He is responsible for this photo, but sadly he can’t remember where or when he took it. Belongs here though;
Looks brand new - hence no reg plate - although it appears to have a tax disc. Anyone have anymore info on this lovely early 110 ?
Hi Ash, sorry to be so long in replying to this.
The Scania 110 was not new when photographed but had recently had a paint job.
John Davies bought it 2nd hand from Jimmy Alford and had it stretched. ( allegedly so he could fit his name on )
It started its life as this
Here,s a couple more pics ( nice bit of roping and sheeting )
Photos Compliment of Horrie Davies. I,ve got loads more to put on, so apologies in advance if any are duplicated from earlier in the thread.

How come nobody has put a foto of your great leader on this thread? Plenty from the pub bash last week.

Did you have your passport with you to venture that far south then ■■?

from J.D.s days as an owner driver.
Just seen this thread,and haven’t read it all yet. I was following a couple of Davies motors heading towards Ouistreham a few years ago,when I overheard a conversation on the CB.It was an old hand and a new driver,and the newbie was being given some good info about how things worked in the company.Along with the info,the word ‘shag’ was used several times per sentence.Anyway,a few weeks later I was in Cherbourg docks having a beer in the company of a husband and wife driving team,and a Davies driver,so I related the above tale.The couple’s eyes began to widen,but I finished the story-at which point the Davies driver looked me in the eyes for a moment,and said with a wide grin(thankfully) ‘Well,that would have been me then shag’
Sir + …I and probably a few others reading this might have a good idea who that was.
Bit loud but with a heart of gold.
Here,s a couple more pics of J.D,s green Volvo
