R Jimski

Hi jim that F10 came from a feller in Romsey was imaculate five and a half grand could not chip him but so clean went straight to work on SCAC four Manchesters and back then a short one to sand bach on a friday, That was when Pompy dock had a gravel park max 15 trailers plus a few on the key. Mappo tried to pick up a trailer down hill it had been dropped a bit low by the dockies it started to run away he chased it but lost out went on its nose bent like a banana with 23 tonnes of ato chem on it bad day for him worse for me. another Mary hopkin moment . I think thats when he started wareing those tight black shorts black socks and sandles but i could not put money on it.

Buzzer…i have to say in all honesty i cant remember doing that. i was,nt ■■■■■■ was i ■■?
As for the shorts socks and sandals that have been mentioned just once or twice on this thread, i was only trying to improve the image
of the British lorry driver abroad :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: . I think i might have failed.

Ainacs…e-mails are a bit thin on the ground Pat, got any more ■■?

PS…Buzzer…i was speaking with one of your drivers lunchtime today at MMD,s in Pompy…Could,nt talk for long but he seemed like a ’ good old boy ’

the jamesons accident was a mistake for mr alford, i asked him on the saturday if the loads were safe , he said yes i’v checked the loads take any one of the three trailers, ok we set off on the monday, jims in front.then danny , i’m following. same speed , the trailer rolls on a left hand bend going into burbage,i was driving m reg day cab scania 110, climbed out through hole where windsceen was, jim then came back, i told him i did’nt know why it rolled, he then told me i do,
in the other two trailers their are 2 logs, in the one i picked 1 log ,13 tons and only 4 wedges holding in place. the lesson learnt their was never trust the boss look your self.

a young 32 now

Good afternoon KwozzJnr. I can remember being away with Reader (An idylic mentor to have) and bumped into you and your Dad in the Shell at Tarancon just south of Madrid. (Both heading home) He made the biggest pile of bacon sandwiches I have ever seen, carefully stacked on a ‘Sealink’ tray which he had ‘borrowed’. There must have been 8 or 9 sarnies on the tray. On passing them over to you I can recall you telling him ‘Dad there is no way I will eat all them’. He just replied - ‘Well you better had because we are not stopping again til we get to Cherbourg shag’ He never had much luck with bacon, especially when it was going to Portugal.

He was always the understanding type, mind you he only used to run himself on the 2 x ‘S’ s (Superkings and Smith-Kendons). Take care, Horry. P.S, I do hope you do not have a Fan in your windscreen.

Afternoon to you Horry and my god no cant remember but definatly sounds like something he would say to me, Or the other one was “Dad i need the loo?” His reply “Just up here round the corner is a services” 4 and half hours later when he needs a break( When he used to stop for breaks OPPs sorry he always did) he would stop  … He did only run on the 2 x ‘S’ . i remember seeing you a few times i think Dijon was the most memorible as for most.

And no i havent got a fan in my window, sat more on a forklift now unfortantly :frowning: oh well nice to speak to you again. hope all is well.

Good evening FTV. Nice photos. Any really old ones?? - (Blue and Red). Or any old Soton ones??

hi horry and jonny, just been looking at the photos, i have a few blue and reds, some old blue and whites, and general stuff, over the weekend i will scan some, i first started doing electrical work for davies in 1981, the first driving job was to oxford with car parts, reload in hounslow carryfast then back to the yard, with one of the green volvo’s, i lent him my van for a couple of days, when i got i back he filled right up with petrol, a few times he needed a driver quick i went out, over the years i made 43 trips, the only damage caused was by a tipper on the old road up to the frejus tunnel he broke the miror with his mirror arm, i was in c789 bpo.

regards paul.
