I was wondering whether Armstrongs actually could have quoted to do the job not just supply stone ! Cheers Dennis.
Aye Dennis, “Thoos Reet” there was a lot of good lads worked for him, they had some good traffic and a decent fleet over the years with Albions, ERFs, Leylands, some of the first Mercedes in the UK then Scanias.
These images show Johnsons lads leading lime the hard way with a shovel to unload. The pics had spent many years in a drivers wallet I was loaned them to try and restore them via Photoshop., they are vastly improved and visible . I was able to glean more details from County Council Registration Record books in the County Archive Department.
Cheers, Leyland 600.
John West:
Beautiful sheeting! Even Dennis would be proud!
Must have been one of the first 111s, didn’t think they came out until R registration.
John.
