Anybody know who drove that Duncan Hill 81?
Some of the drivers names I remember were Joe Robinson, Dave Cash, Gerry ? , a lad that called himself Black Witch on the cb? and Duncan’s son.
Is Duncan still around? he always managed to fit ‘marra’ in at least 3 times in every sentence.
Last time I saw Dave C was when we had a n/out in the West end of London around 1980, parked at Aldgate and got the tube. Good days Think he moved away. Think that Black Witch guy emigrated.
Joe aka Shafty from Silloth died, I last saw him in pub at Silloth telling him how much ‘The Smoke’ (that he had spent most of his life running) had changed.
You are right there Dennis, a real haulage man Curly was, always good crack.
You are a “Star” Paul where do get shots like that one of the Great Curly !! Thats him to a “T” what a character, did you ever meet him? he maintained all his motors single handed and was an absolute Animal where maintanence was concerned but those [zb] at the Milnthorpe MOT station used to delight in “knocking” one of Curly’s back (very occaisionally like) so he’d come into our workshop to sort it and then back into the station for a “pass”.He was a good Marra over the years but I was ■■■■■■ off that I missed his funeral at the time, the poor 'owd lad ended up living in a timber lodge near Penrith and had been dead for a number of days before they found him.I’ll not say what I really think but it really was a shame how he ended up though.Cheers Dennis.
I once fancied a change of jobs and went to see Curly. He looked at the scania jacket and the furry clogs and said ,lad better you stick to the fridge haulage than work for me,then a few years later he landed in to a firm i was working for, with a aluminium casing for welding, which i did, and when he walked away he said, good welding that, for a man that used to wear a scanny jacket and furry clogs, i was supprised he recognised me.
Klunk
Leyland moving back to M.A.N or at least for my latest motor. Alot better than my old Volvo in my opinion. More comfort and space, just a poor gearbox. I wish my M.A.N had the 13 speed Fuller out of the old Mean And Nasty.

Anyone got any pics of the mint 143 doing logging work round these parts lately? Think it’s about an N reg, dark green.
Gorgeous looking but I never see it stood still!
