Juddian:
The thing with a rear steer is to forget the steering axle is there for turning purposes, the drive axle is the pivot point whether the rigid vehicle is two or three axle (if the rear axle steers), pacing the distance from the drive axle to the rear of the vehicle will give you in inkling of how much tailswing is involved.

Speaking of 3 axles buses, haven’t seen a twin steer bus for years.

By the way regarding capabilities skills attitudes etc, there’s good and bad in both sectors.

Pretty much agree with you mate, good and bad everywhere unfortunately more bad than good at the moment. The pacing of the rear axle to work out the swing is exactly what I did to work it out, I also put my drive wheels on a painted line then put it on full lock and drove untill the rear was over the line which helps out to know the distance you need to be from another vehichles side before you hit it pulling out.

If you want to see twin steer have a look at the Italian Job. Or Lady Penelopes car on Thunderbirds.
