Seen one of our trucks early hours this morn minus it’s headlights , he’d parked on 57 nr sainsburys/ McDonald’s from what I could gather and they were swiped overnight
I’ve never removed a headlight from a scania so is that really possible without disturbing the driver , do folks really go out to nick headlights , never seen it myself until todayWith the amount of so called proffesional drivers smashing into railway bridges and mowing down pedestrians, are you really going to expect them to miss a couple of headlights on a walk round check?
Fall out of bed , ■■■■ down wheel, keys in and go , yes it is possible ( not that I would do it )
Funny this has came up, I noticed one of my head light lenses cracked yesterday morning, I changed the lens really quickly (and very easily) and I didn’t wake myself up
someone once nicked half a tank of diesel when I was a sleep. Mind you, the way I sleep (or used to) they could have probably air ratcheted all of the wheels off too.
Some also got nicked here…viewtopic.php?f=2&t=123842&hilit=+headlights
Led lights in general just seem to be a magnet for thieves. Had it a few times where every single led lamp is missing. They are kind enough to leave me the brackets and some of the wiring. Sometimes…
Interesting post.
One of our motors parked on A1 near Newark last week (no way I’d park in a layby) with a 65 plate Scania, woke up in the morning, both Xenon headlights gone, and both the rear mudguards, completely removed from the chassis, (LED rear lights). Easier to remove the whole mudguard and staves with 4 bolts from the chassis, than to bugger about trying to get just the lights out on their own.
There’s a pair on fleabay doing £205 at the moment with 3 days to go.

Can see why DSV speec’d the normal headlights and old style bulb rear lamps. And no side skirts either…

I’m glad my DAF 106 uses proven technology, and none of this new fangled DEL rubbish that needs replacing every few weeks…

To be fair xenons are proven technology, they’ve been around donkeys years, is just Scanias are pathetically easy to pilfer from
Easy to nick xenon headlamp units are favoured by the diy cannabis grower for lighting, Range Rover lights could be removed in under a minute and Porches were a target as well.

Dunno… but if any owner drivers get offered a cheap set of headlights, perhaps check the provinence, like anything else in the “black economy” if people are willing to buy no questions asked , as long as its cheap, these things will happenI don’t think a set of Scania headlghts would fit my truck.
or my car

Many, many years ago on Charnock Richard I was parked next to an ERF and had been chatting to the driver. When he got up next morning he fired her up and straight away she died. He tried again but same thing. He got out muttering a scuttle full only to find that not only had his diesel been nicked but they’d had his tank as well, cut straight through the straps and no one heard a thing!
Truck park in Malaga, one driver had parked up and was picked up by his missus and went home for the night, bearing in mind the truck (F12) was with around 20 others he came back the next morning to find the propshaft and gearbox missing…
You will probably find items are stolen to order …The thing at the moment is people going to their cars to find the dash has been stolen to fit to accident damaged vehicle where the airbags have went off

Donkey do you drive a scania by any chance.
Had ‘mine’ nicked on A14,yes I know worst possible place to park, mistake made, lesson learnt. Woke up headlight malfunction warning! Thought okay got a bulb out, speechless to find two holes and both lights gone,6 screws and there off, just cut the wire! Heard nothing, cost £1500 to replace, apparently they can be used for growing ganja?

Headlights? Perhaps not. But most other things definately! Used to come into my old work following a long weekend and at least once a year be greeted with a truck that was missing a PTO, or a prop shaft, or a set of wheels.
