Cornish Companies

Just remembered it was George Keer.

Anyone got any pics of J Hayne and Son? Especially of the 301 Seddon A23 URL, or the X plate 401, the ERF day cab NJU 201P, the Leyland Roadtrain B759 Dav or the freighters A631 JTA and BKE 931Y? The ERF was unwritten. BKE was bought from Pete Joliffe who went to drive for Torridge and whose Merc rigid is in the Devon thread.

Hello,Bubbs here,Davnic has sent his cornish photos to me to put on the thread for everyone to enjoy…this is the small company he worked for at one time.

Dave hopes these are of interest.Theres more to come.

Cheers Bubbs and Davnic.

G’day,
Bobthedog mate, glad that you liked the Maltby DAF,funny that you reckon it’s you. It make’s it worth it for me to post pics on here when people recal their old truck or firm. Good ECC pics Bubb’s I used to work on quite a few of then in Tiverton when I was doing my apprenticeship. I’ll stick them up on the Devon thread.
Cheers Jamie.

If it isn’t me then I would be most surprised, to be honest. It is a long time ago, but that was when I took it on and was driving it, although not for very long, but if you want the honest truth, I do remember landing in the middle of Exeter services on my way out to Ilminster with a load of spuds as my mate was with me and needed the facilities. And I do seem to remember the trailer bar being bent now, but that could be my mind playing tricks.

Regardless, thanks for the pics. Dig through and see what else you have. I am afraid I never really took any, and those I did are long gone.

Hi All,

Grat pics, espeacially the Chris Miners motors, used to run with these when on the spud run from Lands End to Walkers - Leicester

Has anybody got any photos of Dennis Oates Scania 143,s ■■

Regards

Ant

Oates’s 142,B43 BAF is still working and looking fine.

Thanks to Bubbleman for posting my photos.
I’ll try and learn to take pics as well as you other guys in future  .

After taking the trouble and time to post my pics on the forum,Bubbleman returned them to me,recorded delivery,as requested.
He also returned the money i enclosed with the photos for their safe journey home, obviously paying the postage himself.
It’s good to know there are some genuine people left in the world.
Bubbs,you’re a Gentleman.
Thank you,Dave.

Hello again,Daves been and got me all embarrased now    ,anyway here are some more of his stuff.

Yes Bubbs, the first two pics were taken at Royal Cornwall, circa 1985.
The ‘Dingles’ Roadtrain went on to Conway Baileys and is now owned by a Trucknet Forum member and is in preservation.(see Leyland Roadtrain thread).
I’m wondering if the Dingles unit started the,now familliar, plain orange Baileys livery,or did it just happen to fit in with an already decided colour?
To be honest,i don’t know what Baileys ran before their orange Roadtrains.
When i started working(1988),Baileys ran four Roadtrains, all driven by Conways sons(i think).
At present, with the accquissition of R’n’R Transport,D.C.Bailey now run well over 50 vehicles.

Hi again, heres the last of Daves pics,Cooks of Hayle, with a few of my pics to finish off .

Hope these are of interest, thanks once again to Dave (Davnic) for sharing his collection. :sunglasses:

Cheers Bubbs.

Hello,stupid me forgot these :unamused:

Hope these are ok,will look out my Conway Bailey pics for next time

Cheers Bubbs.

G’day,
Good pics on here again,I like the yellow Atki 400 tipper, looks ready for anything. After looking at your last lot of pics Bubbs I recgnised the last one as being familar, the red ond orange stripes are a dead give away.

I took this in july 1991 in the yard of Edworthy of Bow,I think the MT on the cab stand for Moyle’s Transport, who also ran an early Globetrotter.
Cheers Jamie

G’day again,
Nice looking Transcon from Penzance.
