Can anyone remember any of Gary Vincent’s classics in the 80’s and 90’s pulling containers out of Tilbury and Felixstowe was an owner driver pulling for Goodways, CSM and Armours Transport. Heres a few pictures of his lorries to jog a few memories.
That Scania looks like one of Bewicks?
Hello all
Just an update about my dad Gary vincent who started on container’s for Goodways in the mid 80s and becoming an owner
driver in 1986.after he worked for various companys [Dukes. vangaurds. Billpats]. his friend john dickens who had a blue volvo f88 reg no.UGC 739R. who was an owner driver working for Goodways under maytal transport had lost his licence in 1985 and persuaded my dad to drive the lorry for him to keep the truck on road when john was due to get his licence back in 1986 my dad decided to get his own lorry and become an owner driver also pulling for Goodways in 1986.
when he purchased a red and white scania 111 reg no.mpu 8V.which was running well untill it was in a smash and written of
in 1987.[accident was’nt his fault]. after about six weeks of searching he purchased a blue scania 142 reg no.YUT 876Y.
still working for Goodways then after a while in 1989 he went to CSM but after a year he went to Armours transport but
went back to CSM late 1990s to late 1994. in 1993 the blue scania was sold and a black scania 142 was bought in it’s place but he was’nt happy with it as he spent most weekends working on it. so the end of 1994 he decided to get rid of it.
he also decided to go back to working for someone.so in early 1995 he went to work for a company called franklins from
st Alban’s parkstreet herts doing tiltwork then on to R and R transport also from st Alban’s parkstreet till early 1997 and ended up at express dairy’s where sadly dad died in nov 1998 aged only 49years. R.I.P. DAD.
