Cheers Dave.

hiya,
When I saw the picture in the paper she was dressed in the same
uniform as the men, I think it said she was the first one it must be
this equality thingy going potty, nowt wrong though it’s not as if it
is proper work, standing guard must be the most boring job going.
thanks harry, long retired.

Not saying much Harry    but don’t you think at your age    you should start to lower the strength of you malt whisky  :unamused: :unamused:

hiya,
Norm your’e obviously not an expert on the single malt’s or you
wouldn’t come out with the statement about lowering the strength
of the finest from Scotland only women dilute the stuff with water,
dry ginger, lemonade and other impurities, from bottle to glass to
mouth and down the neck is the only way, lower the strength Norm
no way it would be a sacrilage and Larry would disown me and if I
went to the club on the 29th and attempted to pollute my drink it
would be a case of neck and crop and thrown into the street never
to return.
thanks harry, long retired.

Norm probably spent to much time in those sand strewn Countries where alcohol is banned Harry. You will have to introduce him to the flavours of your malt.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
When at the BRS show at the Lincoln Farm Cafe a year or two back
I had a bottle of Glenmorangie with me and I tried to tempt him at
that time, but no I had to drink it myself well you can’t take a part
filled bottle back home with you the wife would think I’d turned a
Tee-totaller and call the doctor.
thanks harry, long retired.

Seems like Norm is tea drinking bowls man Harry. No wonder he is loaded with money,no vices except taking wads of money off the betting shops.
Cheers Dave.

Tea, I don’t mind if I do.   that should bring a few memories for you Harry, Colonel Chinstrap from ITMA, but I think he was a spirit drinker.

Yeah knew that Chris,as you say Arthur Askey and Ted Ray and their generation of comedians were corny.I used to listen to Have a go on the wireless, before we had a tv.Harry Hanson at the piano I think. Wilfred Pickles wasn’t a bad actor.I remember seeing him in a film " The family way " with John & Hayley Mills and Hywel Bennett in the 60’s.
Cheers Dave.

Good old film that Dave,I must buy it on dvd. Askey made one film, summat to do with a football match in Manchester. He was a steam loco driver and had a shift to Liverpool and back on a saturday, fireman was a big daft sod, can’t recall his name. I think they made it to see t’team win — it would of course be Man U no doubt.

Well Dave,John Mills was my favourite and I still like to see him in “Hobson’s choice”,as a bootmaker in Salford.Charles Laughton,Brenda de Banzie and Prunella Scales were supporters plus the one who played Albert Tatlock in that awful “Corra” crap soap. If you haven’t seen it then get the dvd,it’s hilarious, and in b and w which makes it even better.

Yes I have seen it Chris, not for a few years. They don’t make good films like that anymore. We had some good British actors and actresses, but as with most things, its lack of money that stops them these days.
They keep churning out the soaps and these so called reality crap. That’s why I spend so much time on here.
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
It was Violet Carson (Ena Sharples) of early Corrie fame who played the
piano on Workers Playtime the Wilfred Pickles radio programme, and I
think the catchphrase was “give him the money Barney”, who’s senile ?.
thanks harry, long retired.

hiya,
Aye’ I realised I’d jumped off the bus at the wrong stop the minute I’d pressed the send button,
I told you I’m rubbish on the computer and even worse at memory recall.

Another saying from ITMA was " Can I do you now Sir", Ray’s a Laugh with Ted Ray, Around The Horn with Kenneth Horn & Richard Murdock, Over The Garden Wall with Norman Evans, Will Hay, Arthur Askey, Jimmy Edwards, Flannigan & Allen, Jimmy Jewell’s& Ben Warren, June Whitfields, Doris & elsie Waters & brother Jack Warner hello hello fame, Brian Rix, Crazy gang, Big Bill Campbell, Georrge Formby, Mother Riley played by Artur Lucas, and his wife Kitty Mc Shane, Freddy Frinton, all stage artists and on the radio. They kept up people moral during the war and many a smile on their faces, I for one would never say they was rubbish, just because they was not my cup of tea, I still had a laugh out of all of them.

I don’t believe that brother Webb will be on the TN site to-night as he is doing a “Neet shift” on the Picket line at the Bus garage in Douglas, while the other brothers attend an important meeting in the Boozer that doubles for their HQ. Anon 1 former member of the TGWU !! Anyhow who are this Unite crowd, never 'eard of 'em,they weren’t around in my day,we had decent unions in those far off days,so we did !!

Well “brother bloody Webb” wouldn’t go anywhere near a bus driver’s picket line, let THEM get on with it on t’picket line and get wet through. They don’t know they are born over here and should get back to sodding work, same as those greedy sodding tube train drivers striking on Boxing Day.
Anybody would think these buggers are on the minimum wage. They make me sick the lot of 'em. :imp:
Off me soap box now.
