Or - Willie Lambie whose trailer no. was PEN15Gavin, did an O/D have that PEN15 reg on his truck and not just a trailer in the mid 80’s? I’m sure he did truck racing too, a bit of a celeb in the mags etc, I can’t remember his name though.

Hi I haven’t heard that one! do you think he could have got it past the DVLA?
Archie thats typical Wullie! Do you know whats happened to him? I can’t remember the last time I met him, it was many years ago, he was wooied about his eyesight. Then a bit later I read an article about his trucks going to Khasakstan(?) but no mention of him personally. If anyone is in contact with him please give him my regards
Off subject a bit but I used to see a car on the M5 around J 5 with the reg BOL1C or maybe BOL1K
Gavin

nt know about his sight. I hope he`s keeping well wherever he is. I packed in going away in i984 / 5.
Big Leggy:
Many years ago (when I wore a young mans clothes) there was an International Company running F12 Globetrotters – only they had changed the headboards to read Globetrotter - Bogtrotter - Snotgobbler etc etc !! Whenever I have mentioned this in conversation no other driver can recall the company !
I didn’t imagine it did I (excessive Frizanti can cause confusion I believe)…■■
i DO remember the snotglobber one, i saw it on the a12 once when i was young!! i would love to see a picture of it!
also, i used to deliver to jim’l mix it in bow, cement company!

A very reliable source has found the name of the o/d with the reg PEN15, who did truck racing too (late '80’s?), his name was Steve Parrish.
brookie.
Hi Brookie, Re that trailer number, PEN15, GARY was right, it was most definately Willie Lambie . that had this number on his trailer. if you read my earlier post, I replied to Gary and said why Willie had put the number on his trailer I have heard of Steve Parish, but only as a Truck Racer, but that was much later on.
Steve Parish was a top motercycle racer, before he went on to race trucks.
Steve Parrish would’ve had the number in the late eighties, after Willie Lambe, apparently he pulled fridges with an F12 for Rayleigh cold store as well as being a truck racer. He was a regular in "Truck and Driver "etc.
brookie.
Steve Parrish must be the most versatile petrol head in the world, having started out driving motorcycles and cars around his father’s small farm at the age of 9.
Steve turned professional motor cycle racer in 1976 at the age of 22, joining Barry Sheene in the Suzuki GP team and subsequently taking 5th place in the 500cc World Championship in 1977. In 1978 and 1979 he clinched the British Motor Cycle Championships, and then in 1980 he joined Yamaha — winning many European and British races.
1984 saw the introduction of truck racing to the European circuits. Not to miss an opportunity, Steve joined Sheene, Brundle, Alan Jones, Stig Blomqvist and many more to try the big monsters for size and has since proven to be the most successful truck racer in history, taking 5 World titles.
He retired from two-wheel riding in 1986 and managed the UK Yamaha Superbike Team, taking three British titles.
In 1990, he joined the BBC as technical presenter and commentator for both British and World Motor Cycle Championships and on his spare weekends, of which there are few, he has raced in the Vauxhall Caterham Series — winning and regularly appearing on the podium.
Steve has worked for Sky Television as a studio guest for motorcycle racing programmes, and for Eurosport as a World Superbike commentator. Eurosport and Motors TV have also employed Steve for racing bike tests.
p.s. Do you think he might have been moonlighting with that fridge then?
Steve Parrish never worked for Rayleigh Cold Stores, that was Mel Lyndsay who also did a bit of truck racing & had a column in Trucking International. Steve Parrish had the plate PEN 15, he probably still does, but the last tme I saw it in a mag it was on a blue XJS (it was a few years ago)
The firm with Snotgobbler etc were I think Irish?
There’s a couple of older motors knocking around in Tilbury one has PHAR-Q on & the other has PHAR-Q2
FERCAM?
Salopard=an illegitimate child which we aren’t allowed to name
Salope=■■■■■
Both are slang, the latter does not refer to a lady dog
. which is une chienne.
And, apparently Foden is an unacceptable word in Portuguese, so they rebadged them Poden.
Or so I’m led to believe, someone will put me right if I’m wrong.
I helped to pull this one back onto the road on Imranli mountain Turkey one winter.
Regarding PEN1S was’nt the ex boxer Nigel Ben taken to court for having that number displayed on his car without the regulation spacing , or was it Steve Parish.
I was told a couple of years ago that Willie Lambie had a yard at Newhouse and that he had had laser treatment to his eyes. He certainley was a character.
regards Jamie.
