i have a daf 45 cab off an x-reg but it’s a bit of an oddity but may suit you.
it’s an ex communications truck-the cab is a sleeper cab but has a door positioned in the rear of the cab which extends up into the roof air deflector-ie you can walk through it into whatevers behind(nothing now as it’s a chassis cab).it’s a professional conversion, cab is solid.i have the whole truck but am using it to keep my other daf’s running.
Well…I did say cheap! Bought a 2001 Midlum with 330k on the clock for…£510!
Body is now on (courtesy of a telehandler and lots of waving in the wind), it feels like driving a Maserati after the DAF. Feel rather sorry for the DAF, may restore it or it may go to help poor sick African lorries…
So…next question is…running tips for old Midlums please.
Mechanic reckons there is nothing major to do…one odd problem is that it doesn’t always switch off first time.
Anyone come across that one before?
And what else should I watch out for?
Advice gratefully received.

At that price I’d be checking the vehicle history very carefully
At that price I think one would need an archaeologist to check the history!!
But I do have a good idea of what it’s been up to recently, all seems to add up.
Really just after weak points and quirks of the breed to look out for…
