Most of the places like this would probably make more money if their prices were reasonable as more people would spend money and they would get their profit from more turnover. The theme parks and most tourist attractions are the same the prices seem to be much higher than any normal place.
They play on the captive audience theme but seem to forget we are mobile and or have great wives to make us butties to put in the fridge
It always beats me how drivers can afford to o/n park in any of these these overpriced rip off ■■■■ holes especially as we are about as welcome as herpes there, just look how far the truck parks are away from the main area, and I remember when once over there was a separate designated cafe in most msa.s, if not all.
Speaking of the old days does anybody remember the Park Hall night club over the back field on the n/bound side at Charnock in the 80s, had some cracking nights in there,… in the days before everybody was frightened to get out of their cabs at night
Can’t remember which services I was in the other week but the HGV area was rammed and must have counted over half a dozen trucks in the car park (didn’t see coach and caravan area but I guess these must have been pretty full). Always pretty cautious with my hours etc and yet to get caught out with a full msa and little driving time so is it acceptable in this case to use the other areas? Got to be safer than carrying on ?
M65 Blackburn services are bad too with hardly any HGV parking. Most of them seem to use the coach area.
Like rob22888 said some facilities are trashed by drivers but surly this kind of thing would be a money maker for councils if they could off a selected number of spaces on these huge car parks that sit empty all night. Doing this cheaper for a reasonable overnight fee would earn some money and also support local businesses as a driver might goto a caff or pub for some food!
Sandbach N/B is always a free for all as well at certain times, even worse when the caravans are about. Trucks always parked in the long loads bay and coach area. I bet there have been coaches struggle to park in there.
They say you get fined for parking outside the HGV area, but I suppose they turn a blind eye to it given the legality of drivers having to park & distance between Keele & Lymm (your not supposed to park in Knutsford).
Park and ride car parks could be used for truck parking at night.
The only thing I ever buy at an M S A is a newspaper, it seems to be the only item that they don’t put extra money on.

Private land, they can’t fine only invoice.
Why can’t you park in Knutsford? Too small? Never stopped there myself but there’s always lorries in there.

You can park in there, but the signs make it clear they would rather you were using Lymm further up the road “Emergency HGV parking only…”. It’s only a small lorry park.
