Better to do as you say, take it out at and of shift. It can be left in till morning though if not in for more than 24hrs.
The risk of leaving it in is oversleeping, so wake up late and have a chart with more than 24 hours on.
All that said if boss wants it left in and it will be in for < 24 hrs it’s fine.
and if it goes over 24hrs its your fine lol , take it out and be safe mate…
When you park up you remove your card, close it down, complete your timeshhet and make sure your vehicle is secure, that will be done by a manual entry. When you wake up, put your card in, put it on other work, put the kettle on and do your walk round.
Even Rog got this one right, you do not have to show a rest period on a chart, the VU does that itself by the V marks and when you open and close the head. If your company require a record, you can draw some pretty lines on the rear corresponding to your rest period.
Once again guys, thank you for the replies. I appreciate the advice.
I went with taking the card out.
Cheers
