More so because I was shocked to learn that he hadn’t passed away years ago!
He was living in a retirement home for entertainment professionals when he died. His Christmas show in 1977 had one of the highest ever recorded TV audiences, 21.4 million.

I watched the reunion, he was the one who had not aged well compared to the others.
He had a lot of problems with drink and prescription drugs.
Apparently he’d just had a game of pickle ball (I had to google it, a game like tennis but played on a smaller court) before getting into the jacuzzi. I’m no doctor but I’d suspect a heart attack.
