Hi dad had a brand new D series when he was at Silcocks, the turbo really cheered him up. Thanks Dinger
Dinger Jr, I knew your Dad by name only, but my Dad certainly knew him, if he was at Silcock & Collins, names i can remember from Silcocks and know would be, Mick Greaves, Hugie Wallace, Malc Mckie, as Foden says we all use to go with our Dad’s back then it was a great time, I can remember the Green and Yellow Albions, get those photos on here. Both my Dad and my Brother drove for Cartansport (BRS) as I did later on, infact my Dad was there the first day they put car transporters on the road at Coventry 1959.

0 how did they get the cars on the top deck ?My dad drove one of those to triumph at canley commer, ill never forget it.Dinger
The decks were hydraulically operated, a pump was driven off the gearbox, a pto if you like, i used to do all that for dad, organise which car went on first etc if you had multidrop.I should of been a trucker instead went into the mob and ended up in Formula One.

Remember the gearstick on the Albions and they were bloody noisy. Dad had a wagon and drag with a scots fellow, Aec his mucker helped him out wagon and drag, dad loved it.His mate used to hang me out the window on the move bloody dangerous but they did not care less then it was bloody great mate almost as good as my army days.

I was playing cards with Hugie Wallace the night my Dad died, great chap, yes Ken Greaves did lose a leg/foot in that accident, I believe it was on the M6 near Keel.
