Albion your a star, I’ve been asking on the facebook car delivery thread if anyone had a picture of a Walker Trailer, I had one at Autocar, the worst trailer ever made IMHO.
Can I post it on there please. Cliff

I don’t mind anyone using my pictures for enthusiastic purposes Cliff, but if you sell it, send me half the dough ! Like I said, not a very good picture, the original is OK, but my scanner has gone belly up, I’m looking for a new one and can’t decide what to have. The pic was taken in late 1987 outside the Mazda dealer in Peterborough, those 626s were the first delivery of the new model. Look old now don’t they!

Was that MCD Leyland a Sheerness based vehicle?. I used to work at P&L commercial repairs who did the MCD servicing at Queenborough. The reason i ask is that it has Mazdas on which i’m pretty sure came in at Sheerness at the time.
Thanks Bernard, no just want to put it on a thread I started about the Walker Trailers, Cliff
Another couple, being long ago left transporters, tell me what make of trailer is this.

It’s a Transporter Engineering duck and diver, but the middle deck has been altered. I’m sure Ken will put us right on this one
Used to run one of these before emigrating. Great toy to operate, just used to struggle a bit height wise with many of the modern cars being taller.

0Saw this one parked up at Lymm truckstop. Guessing it’s ex Walon?

yea, looks like a refurb rolfo, they fitted an extra axle on the trailer and probobly had a iveco on the front end, replaced by the daf.i had a tandem axle rolfo with " jaguar drops" to get height down a bit more

Hi Glenny54, think this one was all 1st generation(as in daf and superstructure the same age).I can remember seeing these around Chaul End a lot when i was loading out of there, and being jealous of the flat floor on their trailers as mine was the previous model.

transporter man:
Two photos of the original Plus 11 Mk 2 with its first trial load at the factory 17th September 2001. This vehicle was demonstrated & modified for a few months before production started early 2002, the first production versions went to Whitburn Transport & Car & Commercial.10
I probably had my hands on the C&C versions, Swindon, Corby and Bathgate had some 02 plate motors at one point, they also had some 10 car bodies made up by Vehicle Welding of Birmingham, mostly working Gefco contracts, well 10 if you had nothing bigger than a pug 207 as last car anyway. I was going to hunt down my defunct Flickr account and see what’s there from my days with them but Oiltreader seems to have found some of them.

Yeah ■■■■■■ Engineering, the peak was lowered hence the smaller clearance over the unit, a couple of dealers were either off limits or tip outside thanks to that (one in Mansfield was a major pain in the arse thanks to that little tweak), the middle deck was played with, chopped behind the fifth wheel and had short rams fitted so it could be moved up and down for loading vans. Pic will be 2005-6, taken at Gefco, Corby and Corby truckstop.
Trailer was modded again a few months later when the middle deck was cut and shaped in a shallow “v”, the regular driver reckoned it added an extra couple of inches headroom needed to stick vans on the middle deck.
