A common thread, on the car forums,
a widely used tip, is add the wife/partner as a named driver, also check your occupation, there’s different class for hgv/truck drivers, also lower your annual mileage, if unsure look at your mot from one year to next. Think if car is in yard all week, bet your mileage per year about 6-7000.

I used to be with Cornmarket until a few days ago. They have always been half decent but this year they upped the premium and wouldn’t compromise enough so I went for the cheapest with Tesco at £233 for my 2lt.Mondeo.I know it will be more next year but I’ll go with the cheapest again. Not a chance of auto renewal.
Had the same thing, they put my premium up with no explanation.
Shopped around and came up with lower quotes but Cornmarket wouldn`t match any of them without giving them written details from the others, bye bye Cornmarket
Been with Cornmarket for 3 years, got my renewal from them this year and it was going up by £93 with the only change from the year before was an extra years no claims bonus…rang them up and they blamed it on insurance premium tax going up by 2%…told them 2% of £286 wasn’t £93!!!
Did a few searches online and ended up with direct line for a bit less than i paid last year and saving just over £100 on Cornmarkets best renewal price.
They’re all the same.
They’ll increase it by a small amount every year, because most folk will take a £20 rise on the chin.
They can’t help themselves though…and by the third year(through greed)they’ll chance their arm,and stick a oner on the premium.
Put mine up to £360 This year…shopped around, and got it for £195
2litre diesel freelander
I pay £32 per month for a 17 year old mk4 golf gti. Last year I was paying £25 per month.
Been with the same mob for a few years, and they were still the cheapest this year!
Incidentally, I called them a couple of years back to say I was now parking the car on our new driveway overnight as opposed to on the road, they told me the price was going to increase by a £100 per year.
I told them not to worry, I’ll leave it on the road instead!
