car driver

I generally get the wife to drive the car when I am not in work (I can have a bevy then) unless I am going off roading

And how do you get to work/shops/holidays etcā€¦?

I drive cars but I donā€™t class myself as a car driver, if you know what I meanā€¦

No I donā€™t know what you mean.

If you drive a car, you are a car driver.

Drive a train makes you a train driver.

etc

(Best of this is the road Iā€™m talking about past Edinburgh airport has a cycle-tow path running its entire length but they think there supposed to be on the road!)

Where? All I can see is a pavement

assuming this is the road you mean

Ryy86:
Cyclists who ride on dual carriageways, had one the other morning on way to work didnā€™t see him until the car in front swerved last minute. (Very poor if non existent lighting) I was straight on the horn as I narrowly-missed his arse, and he responds with giving me the fingers! Luckily for him I was running late or the brakes would have been slammed on and my power-bar across his head.

How was it the cyclists fault that you were two close to the car in front to safely plan ahead, and both you and the car driver were paying little if no attention to the road ahead and probably verging on dangerous driving.

If you going to try and moan about something at least make it sound like its the other person not you who is entirely at fault

not all cycle paths are as safe as they should be (and a cyclist is allowed to choose to cycle in the road if they feel it is safer).

Also why should cyclists pay tax for using a road when motorists donā€™t?

Look at dippers photo, if you think that dual carriageway looks safer than the STRAIGHT tow path you deserve to be knocked over!

Mind=blown

Is this the road with the cycle path and inappropriate shadow from googles camera car, probably a Citroen Penisoā€¦

It sure is, there is a tow path either side of the road. I donā€™t think the other side has a giant shadow ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  though, thatā€™s great.

Do we all not drive cars when off duty ?
Every type of vehicle has itā€™s share of bad drivers, Carā€™s, busses, lorryā€™s, trains, bikes, even ships FFS

A lot of us cycle on dual carriageways, who needs a carā€¦

Fella I work with cycles to work every day a round trip of about 24 miles,heā€™s 67years old been doing it about 30 years. He had to change his route recently and used a cycle path most of the way but parts. Of it were so bad he was getting punctures daily so now he just uses the better parts , but he wonā€™t use the dual carrigway and looks out for his own safety.

I always remember about 1975 my Dad being brought home by the police in a black maria van, he was a docker in Liverpool and was heading back to Netherton after working the welt which meant half a day working and the other half in the ale house.

He was on his bike and as he was riding down the Princess Way flyover in Seaforth he couldnt stop and was wobbling everywhere absolutely bladdered and battered and hit about three or four cars and fell off the bike
He just wanted to pick the bike up and go for a pint in the White House opposite but the car drivers pinned him down till the police arrived.
He was handed over to me (10 years old) to look after

Yeah, he posted the picture after my comment.

My ability to see future posts isnt that good yet (and no, I didnā€™t click in the link in the previous post).

Mind still blown?

Iā€™m a pedestrian, cyclist, car driver and professional driver (that is to say, I drive for a living and I do it in a way that is as professional as I possibly can). All this means Iā€™m one of the most hated people on the roads BUT: The profesionalism part of my job means I use these different roles to understand why other road users may be acting in the manner that they are.

+1, very much. Why it is that lorry drivers can see no irony in whinging about car drivers who donā€™t understand why they have to position their lorries in a certain way to negotiate a tight corner, then proceed to fleck the screen with spittle as they talk about cyclists having the temerity to wear lycra (itā€™s ideal for cycling any distance) and ride away from the gutter, I donā€™t know. Just because you donā€™t understand something doesnā€™t mean thereā€™s no reason for it.

Iā€™m going to start riding teh 18 miles each way to work again. And Iā€™ll be dressing in lycra.

I can ride bikes too, does that automatically make me a biker/motorcyclistā€¦?
