Longwayround:
That’s right BTD,no point going OO if you think your going to cruise
Hi Richard, you’re dead right there, but that applies to any O/O anywhere, it’s just that it’s a lot easier to get started over here, which allows people to buy/lease trucks when they are not cut out for it
We have seen a few like that, haven’t we, Mark?
I think that, once you have been O/O, it is hard to resist the temptation to go all over again. My chief concern is that I will become as obsessed as I was last time. I couldn’t stop working and it was a bit much. But I will still be asking about it all. I think the other truck I have been offered is way overpriced and am more interested in the Pete, but I still haven’t had a price yet.
As for being easier to get rolling here, it is still just as easy to fail without effort, but you do seem to have much more backing from the company you work for here, unlike over there.
As Mark said it’s all too easy to get started. These big companies view leasing their old trucks as a second income stream that has very little financial risk for them.I don’t doubt the truck I leased had already been bought, paid for and depreciated before I leased it and I paid for it all over again.
Though I would say that I did have to wait a few months before I was allowed to become an OO.When I initially asked they told me they couldn’t give me enough work to make it pay.So at least they didn’t let me hang myself right off the bat.
Be very carefull before you decide to go O/O here, the deals sound great but read the fine print. As their are loads of hidden costs that they forget to mention when you sign on the dotted line,
