I remember LPG Transport from Morley very well but I never knew they ran tippers at one time.

Rushden workshops, that brings back some happy memories. At the time of the bottom photo (1979) i worked there and was a 19 year old apprentice mechanic. The tanker in the foreground looks like an Anhydrous Ammonia bulk tanker (that stuff made your eyes water). The tanker behind it (with the blue front) looks like one of the resin tankers which was on contract to Scott Bader at Wollaston (Nothamptonshire). It used to do a regular run to Europe (I think Italy) with an ERF B series fitted with a Jennings sleeper. The Seddon Atkinson was a 200 series 16 tonne rigid bulk propane tanker which we used to build around 20 each year. These vehicles came in as I started with Calor in 1977 and were in use until being replaced with the Dennis in around 1980. Great photos and commentary 5th Dragoon and yes 36 years later I’m still at Calor ( but not at Rushden as I would now be pushing a supermarket trolley where the workshop used to be).
If I remember correctly you were Berts blue eyed apprentice.

That’s only because I used to clean his car when he came in on Friday afternoons. However I never got to clean the inside as this was Ted’s job (I think that took a 10 year apprenticeship). Charlie T the wheel tapper used to call me boy blunder which was probably more accurate.
Parked up ready for disposal
Thats an interesting couple of photos, do you have any details about them?
