Hi to all,
I’ve been pushing the old big wheels for 43 years now, been there seen it all. Now we’re in a pickle where we work…the guy in the office as stated that he is going to do private cab search’s…now one of the drivers has been told that he cannot do this in secret as this is against the human rights. I’ve said that I find this would not stand up…he said what if something like beer, gas, was planted you could not say that it’s not yours.

What do you guys think■■?
Simple. Take all your stuff out of the truck then you’ve nowt to worry about. It’s not your truck for you to dictate what happens to it so if your gaffer wants to look round his truck then he’s perfectly entitled to do so. As for “planting” beer/gas, I think you are being somewhat drama-queenish.

This^.
Their truck so they can do what they like and as Rob says if it worries you just clear your gear out at the end of the shift. The boss, or someone from the company should be going in the cabs on a regular basis to download the digi tacho, you said on another thread you are on digi, anyway and they don’t have to seek the driver’s permission or tell him first.
Oh, and Human Rights covers such things as the right to shelter, water and the right to not be persecuted and has nothing to do with whether a company wants to look in the cab of a truck they own and which they let you drive.
