i have trouble with my cb. it’s about twice the size of most with cooling fins on the back.
4 watts low power.
40 watts high power.
100 watts on side band.

and it melts the standard daf cb aerial. :laughing:

I guess the one which you’re on about is mounted on the back of the cab which as far as I can see is the standard ‘DV’ base. Have you tried another whip in its place? I could recommend a whip called ‘Scarlet Warrior’. You can put 500 watts through one of those.

Is the SWR fluctuating that badly that its going into the red Phil? If yes then I suspect you have a live-earth connection somewhere (coax fault)

no mate. but it was fine when i changed to a better quality aerial. the needle hardly moves any longer but it used to go just below the red.
